The case against furzkopf

Apologies for taking so long to post. Attempts to make new posts to LJ over the past few weeks has resulted in a 404 error.

The case against furzkopf

On March 6, we received a report of possible plagiarism on LiveJournal from cleflink. The original report can be found here.

I sent furzkopf an e-mail through LiveJournal and through their Yahoo! e-mail account. As of this posting, they have not responded to me.

They have, however, either removed cleflink's story from their LiveJournal, or locked the entries.

Additionally, their first post to LiveJournal was another lifted story; one originally written in 2001 by Sapfarah. Her only available e-mail address anywhere, however, was a geocities.com domain. Yahoo! disbanded geocities.com a couple of years ago, so there is no way to get in touch with her.

(Screencaps are full-page shots, and may take awhile to load. They are set to open in a new tab/window.)
Screencap of cleflink's story can be found here.
Screencaps of furkopf's LiveJournal can be found here (cleflink's story) and here (Sapfarah's story).

Screencap of Sapfarah's story from 2001 can be found here. Another screenshot shows all of Sapfarah's story titles, including the date when they were posted, which is how I determined furzkopf had lifted a ten-year-old story.

I commented to furzkopf about Sapfarah's story and it was also removed from their LiveJournal.

I googled the alias furzkopf, along with their yahoo e-mail address, and have not found them to have posted other lifted stories anywhere else yet.

Conclusion: Furzkopf's response to simply remove the two stories and not respond at all seems to be a clear admission of plagiarism. furzkopf should be placed on the watch list for future reference and observation.
