Buffy fandom: Spike/Xander classic recycled as... Spike/Xander

Oct 06, 2010 02:40

I run bloodclaim, a Spike/Xander community in the Buffy fandom. As mod, I made the decision, years ago, to request that accusations of, or queries about, plagiarism within the comm come through me, because I know lot of people aren't comfortable confronting a possible plagiarist. Hell, I'm not! But I'd rather take responsibility for it than have someone ( Read more... )

Thank you.

I also have the original posts of the now deleted fic saved as html files, if they would be easier for you to view and search than the individual screencaps. Let me know, and I can either upload them somewhere or email them to you.

Actually that would be great, the htmls may be a bit easier to work with. If you are happy to email them to me, my email address is amaphone@yahoo.com.au.

Thanks for putting so much hard work into figuring this out darkhavens Just dropping in to say that you are awesome and thanking you for all the time you put into actively maintaining so many community's.

It's sad that something like this happens in this fandom, especially considering that I've read work by the author in question and of course Twilight Time. It sucks that this happens but there are simply too many red flags for this to be coincidental. :( Guess we'll see what happens.

This Thirded!

It looks like a Kaavya Viswanathan drive by plagiarism. Those are so depressing because the plagiarist writes a good portion of the work, but plagiarizes the rest. It's like, what's the point of doing all of that work, then?

As the moderator on this case I do apologise for the delay in posting a resolution. However, as I have contacted each individual person involved in the case I will have a final post done later this evening.

I do not want this post to become a place in which members fight or attack each other, so all comments are now frozen.

Thanks for doing this. I really didn't want to see anything kick off here.

Also, I don't mean to be a pain, but the resolution still hasn't been posted and the natives are getting restless. ;) Any idea when it will go up?

I understand, I have just been so snowed under with work the last week that I have had exactly zero time to even get online. All things going well, the final post will be up in less than 24 hours!

Bah. RL does have a bad habit of interefing with the better things in life. Completely understandable.

*crosses toes and other stuff for a speedy posting and for your work 'snow' to melt* ;)
