The case against Topazrain

Jan 04, 2010 01:28

On December 15th, inuhanyounikkie reported that author Topzarain on fanfiction.net had plagiarised two published writers.

Topazrain's ff.net profile. The stories in question were removed a few days after the report was made, but I managed to aquire screencaps prior to deletion.

Rescue Me (screencaps here , here , here , here and here) used material taken from His Holiday Bride by Elaine Overton, as you can see from the excerpt on her Amazon.com page. Topazrain has replaced names and changed a few things, but a lot is word-for-word.

Similarly, The Hot Spot (screencaps here, here, here and here) is a word-for-word copy with names replaced of Kayla Perrin's The Sweet Spot's first chapter. It can be viewed on her webpage.

I've attempted to contact Topazrain several times through different means, but she has not replied. Kayla Perrin, one of the plagiarised authors, was also alerted to the plagiarism and is the probable reason the stories got removed so fast.

In view of the evidece, Topazrain will be added to the list of known plagiarists.
