What: The Nataraja school of dance is putting on a performance to showcase their learning, and after is a holiday party!

HOLIDAY PARTY

[Atem probably looks as awkward and out of place as can be. But he's got his back turned while he's casually placing tins of Christmas cookies on some food table.]

Atem! I'm glad you could make it.

[Ashura beamed at his friend, swishing up in robes of soft reds and greens and golds - sort of a nod to the season.]

[He turns around, putting a grin on.] I said I'd make it, didn't I? [He's just dressed regularly, though now he's wondering if he should have dressed up or something.]

[Ashura smiles and hugs him gently in greeting and takes a cookie with a grin, munching.]

Well, I am glad you made it. Did you see any of the performance at all?

[The hug is something new and he gets a little anxious and tense but manages to keep his cool.] I think I got in as it was ending.

Ah, so you saw the advanced members.

[Aka, his students. Ashura had debated performing himself, but as a teacher he should let his students shine. If parents wanted a demonstration, they could ask.]

All the same, I am glad you made it. Did you have a nice Christmas?

They've been taught very well.

[At the question he seems a little bit uneasy.]

As much as anyone might celebrating it for the first time. And you?

Oh, it was nice. My roommate and I did a little something, I had some get togethers with some friends. Quiet, but I rather liked it.

I take it they did not have Christmas in your world?

We did but I never personally observed it.

I see. Fair enough.

We did not have it in my world either. The last year was my first.

I'm learning that there are a lot of different holidays observed by many different people.

It is fascinating, is it not?

All these people being crammed together, it's inevitable they'd bring with them their customs.

True, though I think the Thor picks the most common and celebrates those en mass versus the others.

Those that feel that they're in the minority might not feel like putting themselves out there to celebrate loudly.
