[ Shiro managed to stray from his normal routine this afternoon... he'd nearly passed this place, but he hadn't seen a tea shop around. Intrigued, he pushed the door open to walk inside. It seemed a little slow, but he wasn't going to let that sent him away. Smiling, he approached the counter. ]

Yo! How are things going this afternoon?

[Polly looks up as the door opens. Grinning, she sets the book aside and hops down from her perch.]

Things are great! How are you, today?

Pretty good! However, I could use a break...

Then, please have a seat! I'll get you a menu!

[She moves to pull one out from behind the counter.]

Splendid! [ Shiro pulled out a chair for himself, and sat down, crossing one leg over the other at the knee. The chair seemed to creak as much as his joints, these days. ]

[A moment later, Polly brings up the menu, handing it over. Aside from a truly huge selection of teas, he'll also find several kinds of pastries and even some sandwiches.]

We have chicken and wild rice soup for our special, today, if you'd like some. And the special tea is black currant Darjeeling.

[ Shiro accepts the menu from her, opening to view the selection. He takes his glasses by the lens to best see the printed text. ]

Hmm.

[ He takes some time to consider before asking, ]

How about some Assam blended with steamed milk... and I'll have the house special soup, as well.

[ He hands over the menu, grinning. ]

[Taking the menu back, Polly gives the precise smile a kid would give, upon selling their first glass of lemonade. (Given that she hadn't had the kind of childhood that allowed for lemonade stands, she's probably entitled.)]

Coming right up!

[And then she zips back to the kitchen.]

[ Shiro rest his back against the chair, not at all in any sort of a rush this afternoon... at least, not anymore! ]

[A few minutes later, Polly comes back with his tea and soup, cheerfully setting them down and standing back to be sure he's happy with the order.]

I haven't gotten to talk to you since you were blending things... What are you doing this month?

Thank you!

[ Shiro picked up a spoon, dipping into his bowl to have a taste. ]

Nothing more than a college professor, this month. Not quite as exciting.

[Despite his assertion that it isn't exciting, Polly's eyes light up. Teachers are her favorite people, you see.]

Really? What do you teach?

[fujimoto_shiro]

Well, about that... since it's so close to the holiday, I allowed them to write on a subject of their choosing. I can't compete with the holiday at all.

Oh...

Well... If you were going to teach just one thing, what would you teach?

[fujimoto_shiro]

[ He takes a long sip of tea, not at all minding his company. He'll answer after setting the teacup down. ]

Anti-Demon Pharmacology, I suppose. It's what I used to teach.

[curious_copycat]

Pharmacology? You mean like... herbs and things?

[She frowns thoughtfully. While she's read about demons hurting people and things, she's never actually experienced it. One of her oldest and dearest friends on the Thor is a demon...]

They're really that bad? Demons, I mean..?
