[When France'd spied America curled up over his Guide with a plate of unidentifiable mess, he'd assumed that the other nation was either looking up what exactly that horrendous misshapen blob was, or checking its nutritional contents to see if it wasn't poisonous. Either way, the scene'd been innocuous enough-- a nation and his food, however broadly that term may be used.

And really, he hasn't talked to America in a bit. There really should be no harm in giving the other nation a friendly hello, especially since the holidays are coming up, and...

...well, we all know how enthusiastic America can get about those.

So when his amiable sort of meddling is met with a fist, France's immediate reaction is to THROW HIS HANDS UP IN THE AIR (what was that about surrenders, France?) and take a step back.]

Wh-- c, calm down, oh Mon Dieu, my heart...!!

[He has to take a moment to let himself calm down (because seriously, America, you almost broke France's eardrums there)-- but once everything falls back into place, he sighs and moves to pull up a chair next to the other nation.]

What, is Brother France not allowed to be out for a walk? I was just in the 'neighborhood' when I happened to see a familiar silhouette.

[Because he can totally do that.]

Next time, try not to rupture my ears with your greetings, s'il vous plait.

[A moment passes where France looks mildly annoyed again ('does he ever listen?'), but it comes and goes, since... well, France is particularly used to hitting walls (but don't tell him that).

He leans forward in his seat and puts an index finger against America's forehead, pushing just a little.]

How very astute of you to say so, ami-- you're right, I rarely go out of my way to do anything unless there's something for my benefit.

[He drawls, slightly dramatically but mostly enamored by that assertion.]

And now that I've found you, you'll make yourself useful, oui?

Magnifique.

[And with the brightest of smiles, he attempts to haul America up on his feet.]

Let's go for a walk, then.

[He's pleased by where this is going-- he doesn't have anything in mind, but his plans are quickly turning into 'potentially buying gifts', since everything within his line of vision seems holiday-based.]

Have you gotten anything for any of the nations yet, Amerique?
