HOT SPRINGS RESORT -- TRAVELOR BOB haruno July 12 2011, 06:16:57 UTC
His name is not Bob, really, is it? Who knows! He's sure happy to talk about himself and his adventures. Planning to stick around long enough to hear what he has to say? Is there anything worth saying?

Right now he's midway through telling you about his last business trip out to the Hwy Sector 99.9. Do you listen? Ask questions?

You may want to. If you're learning anything new about the secondary objectives in coming out into space on your own, it's when asking this guy. Jump conversations, ask questions as you like, I'll be backtagging on him for as long as he's wanted.

[Raidou is fucking on this like you won't believe. Of course, he could care less about Hwy Sector 99.9; he'll wait for an opening...]

[ Bob gives it to him a moment later. ]

... then we touched down on planet the whole night. You meet the weirdest people out there, you know? People who claim to be from all sorts of places. Legends even! Most the time it's hot air, and that's all. People trying to hype themselves up. I thought this one guy, he was like that too. Can you blame me?

[ He shakes his head. ]

Like anyone's around from the Sigrun. Bet the ship never existed anyway!

[Bing; there we go!]

Actually, sir, the ship I'm from came across the Sigrun a few months ago.

[ Bob sniffs, then laughs. ]

Really? She's a myth, kid, a nothing. Or I thought she was. After this long, abandoned, she was still intact?

Yes. We were sent to retrieve the flight box; however, the ship shortly self-destructed after we accomplished our task.

[Not his task, buuuut that's the gist of it.]

[ Bob bursts out laughing again. ]

How's that for you? Poor kid, there's no ship left to find. Destroying dreams, all for a flight box. What'd it tell you?

The Captains and its passengers abandoned their mission for their own happiness. They sent the Improbability Drive into overdrive... Captain Amadeus Volnar said so in the final video he left behind.

[He... thinks he asked for a recording. How the hell does this guide work? He might be able to show it to Bob...]

[ Bob listens, then shrugs. ]

Their own happiness, huh? Wonder how many of them found it. Kid I talked to was looking for this ship you so kindly blew up for some... [ he waves a hand ] ... sciency reason or another. Didn't really get the why so much as the urge. Thought he was off his rocker 'til he let me see some of the letters his grandfather wrote.

The IID didn't destroy the ship? Ha! Another myth debunked, if you're worth your word!

Was this 'kid' talking about the Gaia Project?

Yes, I'm sure. The ship went into lock down before self-destructing.

Didn't call it anything that fancy, I don't think. Then again, who knows? I was more interested in the goods, you know? Tried buying one off him when I was figuring they were genuine, but he refused to part with it. Ridiculous! Just a bit of paper and some words he has to have backed up somewhere.

[Of course. Hm...]

Did he give you any details on what the papers said exactly? A general summary at least?

[ Thinks back... thinking is hard. Bob frowns, settling down in the water a little deeper than before. ]

Round half were love letters, I think. Things about decapitation and whatever passes for romantic for his species. They had hints on where the ship had been traveling, and some notes about discoveries and machinery the kid didn't totally understand. He was tracing the ship's path, though with nothing dated he said he'd made a few false steps along the way.

[Fact: Raidou is unashamed of his nudity... unless they want everyone wearing towels.]

Would you by chance know if he's still around? [Gouto might go and scout personally. The kid could 'misplace' the papers...]

Hey, if you're not going to listen to what I tell you, find someone else to talk to!

Oh no, I'm still going to listen. I'm just curious. This isn't exactly a place to wander around if he considers those papers valuable, wouldn't you agree?

[Though, a black cat is listening nearby, out of sight.]
