As Premier of the New Magic Guild, I am calling our first meeting to order! And for the first order of business...
[She cleared off a part of the table before her, then produced a large, rolled-up piece of paper. This was spread on the table for all the Guild members to see: A blueprint, made with painstaking care, of a large building in a style reminiscent of something European.]
Recently, due to an extremely generous donation to the Guild, we have acquired the funds necessary to construct a Guildhall! I've drawn up a rough approximation of the Guild as it was on Lunar for all of you to review.
However, there's portions of it that I think we can take out of the design, and replace with something more useful... for example, I'm mega-sure we don't really need a dungeon with prison cells anymore. And I think we'll have to combine the library into the Guildhouse itself, instead of housing it in a separate building. I was also thinking about expanding it to include more resources, like a Museum of Magical History...
But what should we add? If you'll look, there's already the meeting hall, classrooms, research labs... offices for the Guildmistress and Premier, bedrooms for the Guildmistress and family -- do we need ones for students or guests? Also, I think there used to be a garden with a pool on the roof...
Anyway, the point is... what would you like to see in the Guild? Because now is the best time to build it!

The prison cell area can be converted into, like, cages for dangerous magical creatures that are being studied.

[She starts marking some notes. These plans were made to be drawn all over.]
If we're going to be studying living beings, we'll need to lay down some regulation from the start. Just so we don't start dabbling in forbidden magics and give birth to a second Vile Tribe...

Centuries ago on Lunar, there was a time when most people were mega-lousy with magic. I mean, they could cast simple stuff like lighting spells, but pretty much the only ones with powerful spells were the Goddess Althena, her four dragons, and the Dragonmaster.
But then came one of Lunar's first true wizards, a man with exceptional magic talent who began researching ways that one could expand their own magical abilities -- and more importantly, how he could expand his own! He began to conquer all of Lunar, and became known as the Magic Emperor. His goal was to become such a powerful sorcerer that he would be able to overthrow Althena herself when her next reincarnation occurred.
But in the meantime, he started to do research on fellow humans and beastmen, seeking the secrets of immortality and omnipotence, delving into what would later be known as the forbidden magics. He created the mazoku, a race with extended lifespans and magical abilities. They were his slaves, his army, and his guinea pigs, all in one.
Some of them were fortunate enough to escape, and created a floating city named Vane with magical weaponry that even trumped that of the Magic Emperor. But after his reign was ended, the rest of the mazoku weren't exactly accepted into society. The humans and beastmen alike shunned them as abominations of nature, giving them the name of the Vile Tribe, and so the mazoku lashed out, terrorizing villages and attacking wayward travelers. Eventually Althena put an end to it by banishing the Vile Tribe to the Frontier. Which didn't really solve anything, as tensions ran high between humans and Vile Tribe for hundreds of years to come...
It's an ugly story, and kind of an extreme example. But it's basically the definitive reason why ethical standards in research are mega-important!

I have some floor plans for a library should you need them. Additionally, I could make use of a cassroom and lab for my students instead of what the university supplies.
[ie, yes, she is intending this library to be a miniature version of Viole.]

Absolutely. I can make sure you'll have your own personal classroom and adjoining laboratory to use. And, naturally, I'll be sure to ward it so that only you can lock or unlock the door.

[If she had it her way, the entire thing would be a library. The entire thing.]

Also, I'm thinking the museum's going to be more of a long-term thing... but if and when we do make it, do you think that should be located close to the museum, or kept separate? It should be pretty quiet, but besides that...
I think there's a lot of potential for the museum as a learning resource -- reproductions of magic airships and other technology, as well as exhibits that can demonstrate advanced magic in action for lower-level students and visitors. Plus we can totally charge for tickets at the museum. I love libraries, but the only money they raise is from overdue fees...

[She takes a moment to think, going over her plans mentally.]
I would say it is best to keep it separate from the library, but connected. The same building; merely on opposite or neighboring wings. Each should have independent access to the public, but be connected so that those using the library may go to the museum for references easily.
