[Still hiding from her agents, Une was out of uniform. She had even forced herself into a dress over a skirt suit. Just a simple sleeveless black number cut just above the knee. She had briefly considered tying her hair up before heading out but decided against it. Bad memories came with that particular ritual.]

[While swirling her mocktail with a swizel stick, she toyed with her Guide and coded herself new security algorithms.]

[Holmes asn't quite sure why he was being called to this particular table, since the inhabitant of it didn't seem too keen on entertainment-- but he couldn't very well argue (well, he could, technically, though it'd be in bad form), and thus he moved over to Une, arms folded behind his back.

It didn't take more than a moment for Holmes to recognize the face, however.]

No guns tonight, I take it?

[hikes dress up briefly to flash the thigh holster]

An incorrect assumption.

[she'd noticed him from across the room and this little "break" of hers was getting boring; seemed business would always rule her]

How's your ennui?

And I was so sure that they checked for things of that sort in this establishment.

[He says it airily as he takes a seat next to Une, the way it's expected of him for this particular occupation.

He answers the second inquiry with a touch of amusement.]

A demanding mistress, hardly appeased by my current standings.

They did.

[She smirks at the idea that the bouncer at the door could have parted her from her weapon. Lucky he had been human. Diplomacy over force may have been involved.]

Hm...then she and I have much in common. I pose a job offer as a cure. Would you prove my assumption wrong? My assumption being that you would decline, of course.

A job proposition? Now?

[He says it with all the air of someone who couldn't care less, but he's still listening. After all, it's not like he has anything better to be doing.]

I was under the impression that I was supposed to be entertaining you.

Yes, now.

[She persists in twirling the swizel stick in her drink. One could note that the mocktail hadn't been sipped from. No lipstick staining the rim of the glass. No, she definitely hadn't come here to be entertained.]

Offended that I perform that particular function better than you?

[He observes that she hasn't been drinking, though it's more apparent to him by her overall demeanor that she isn't here to have a good time.

He puts most of his facts together in record time, and blurts out an impulsive:]

Hiding, are we?

[Before he addresses what she actually said.]

Not in the least. In fact, I've successfully managed to entertain a few of my guests already. Fancy that.

Averting conflict. Perhaps I just took this as an opportunity to try and clear my mind. As you can see, I've failed miserably.

Fancy that, indeed.

Conflict. A conundrum, of sorts?

[He turns towards her a bit, going through the customary gesture of waving towards the menu to ask if she wants something to eat, before discarding the pretense altogether.]

Something worth a consulting detective's interest?

It's a dull sort of conflict. A disagreement between peers.

I see. Not worth a third party's expertise, then.

[The spark of interest is gone, and Holmes looks mildly disappointed, not that he expected something of great intrigue to happen.]

In any case. About that job?

A matter of espionage and analyzing intel gathered.

Ah, this topic again.

[He takes a glass for himself and gives himself a bit of wine-- the only perks of this job, as far as he's concerned.]

It seems something ill-suited for a detective, doesn't it? All this... spying. It seems rather shady.

Cloak and dagger.

What would you prefer?

I would say neither, but the dagger is too sinister for my tastes. Who would consult a detective whose expertise lies in the dagger?

[A facetious look.]

What of the cloak, then?
