Even in death, Shin had remained a scientist. While his body was long gone, his spirit remained on the planet, though partially electronic, and returned to the site where he'd spent the last moments of his life. It had almost been like a static haunting, if not for the fact he had been in full control of his consciousness and actions. Perhaps that was merely what he'd been used to. Or, more likely, he had no desire to live again, to find new life in the remains of the world that had betrayed him.
Things had changed since then - just barely, but they had. She wasn't here - certainly, that would have made a world of difference - but she had been there before he arrived on the Thor, and his distressed heart was the smallest bit lighter for it. Meanwhile, Seto was here; the boy had been an obstacle to him until the very end, and yet now he found his words to be something worth listening to. Shin had given him his word that he would believe in him and this new life the Thor offered. And in spite of all that befallen him, Shin was still the same man he had been before his life spiraled downhill - an honest and trustworthy one.
So he'd decided to visit this new planet they'd found. He... wasn't really an amusement park kind of guy - especially not after a series of incidents back home - but the entire planet was an amusement park, so it wasn't like he had much of a choice. Fortunately, it wasn't as if they could force him onto a ride, and he'd situated himself on a park bench beneath a tree in a small plaza instead, sticking out like a sore thumb against the cheery nature of the world with his pale appearance and cold, quiet demeanor.
Also fortunately, he didn't seem to care very much. So there is a ghost sitting on the bench, occasionally tossing bread crumbs to a small group of pigeons (well, they had eight eyes and bat wings, but close enough) nearby with a somewhat uncertain face.
