Oh. Hey, is it my turn?
[He reaches into his pocket and fishes out a piece of paper. If you're looking closely, you might notice a red band on his wrist under his sleeve. The paper is thrust your way wth a cheerful, polite smile.]
I think you just have to sign the bottom, or stamp it with a seal or something.

I think I need to read it first, thanks. What's your name?

I was afraid of that. Uh, it's Yosuke. Hanamura Yosuke.
Reply
I'm Dr. Watson. Would you like to tell me what this is about?

[He coughs, but there's a little too much bass in it to be pure discomfort. The paper itself asks for a very thorough physical review, with a few specific details to be given special attention: body temperature, overall density, and -in a slightly more irritated scrawl than the rest-any possibility of parasites or diseases that could be spread through a bite.]
Just a formality, I mean.
[Uncomfortable squirming.]

[His eyebrows go up as he reads the form.] This is a bit...unusual. Why don't you come back to the examining room and we can discuss it.

[The blush is back, but he hops up energetically and follows.]

You seemed uncomfortable talking about this so I thought a little privacy would be better. Now, you said you thought this was some kind of punishment?

There's a confidentiality clause or something, right? Uh. The thing is, this isn't the first time I've been here. The Thor I mean. I've definitely been here before, okay?
[He coughs again, clears his throat. Now he's a little agitated.]
But last time-I mean, imagine some stranger is trying to shove a fish in your ear and you don't understand what he's saying. It's normal to kick the guy, right? Anyone would!

[He listens to Yosuke's explanation carefully.] Let me see if I understand. The first time you arrived you fought back when they tried to give you the Babelfish? I can certainly understand why someone would feel threatened enough to strike out. But if that was the first time, what's this about now?

Yeah, you would think they'd be used to that! But those basta- those guys, they just reach for the sedatives every time. I, uh. I guess that's what the 'density' thing is about. I mean, it was only a slight exaggeration but I guess-
[He makes a face.]
Anyway, if they had told me it was about that I wouldn't have-I still have a headache from that. Uh, from this time I mean. Not from the last time.
[He sits back, arms crossed. Pretty much finished here, right doc? Just sign the thing and he'll be outta your hair, promise.]

[He scrubs a palm over his face. He almost forgot how much he doesn't like space most of the time.]
I didn't notice that the forms were different if you were back for a second time. And they got out another fi-choo!
[Sniff, eyeroll. Yep, you're dealing with a highschooler here.]
Fish. And uh. I...they didn't believe that I made a mistake in the forms, or they didn't care, or whatever. All I know is I woke up with one of these.
[He holds up his wrist. It's a medical quarantine bracelet on it, that restricts him from entering any populated areas of the ship. He blushes again.]
Think you can help me get them to take it off? A nap would be pretty nice right now, but I'm not even allowed to go to my room until you say I won't bite anyone else. So, can you?

[John considers this for a minute.]
You certainly don't seem like a threat to me, Yosuke. On the other hand, I'd feel like I wasn't doing my job and I'd be lying on top of that if I just signed the form and sent you out of here.
How about this, I'll give you a very minimal physical exam and run some quick tests, and if everything checks out, I'll sign that form. Will that work?
