"Check your gear. Once we're in, there's no turning back."

He'd gone through the routine check countless of times for countless missions, it was almost robotic. And while he usually was deployed with light equipment for his missions, Fox felt that this time, gearing up might have been the best course of action. After his last excursion, he'd poured what assets he could scrape together into armaments for this mission; a machine gun, ten or so flash grenades, the sturdiest flashlight he could find, and as much ammo as his smaller frame could carry. Not a bad haul, truthfully.

He manually switched his blaster and the machine gun safeties off, checked each clip quickly before packing them for easy access, and made sure that the flash grenades were within easy reach; a quick yank and toss to diffuse a dangerous situation. He wouldn't be caught unprepared this time. Not by a long shot.

His orders were fairly straightforward; there were strange heat signatures coming from the Sigrun's Brig. Optimism clashed with a sense of pragmatism as Fox ran through some final checks on his ammo clips (The last thing he'd need was a jam). The best case scenario would be that some of the prisoners from before the Sigrun's initial disappearance were still alive. The worst case (really, the more expected outcome) was that the Brig was no different than the rest of derelict vessel. A few preliminary checks on the status of the Brig showed that, while gravity and life support were up, power was down. If it wasn't one thing, it was always another.

At least the entrance wouldn't require a charge to blow open.
