The concept of Christmas was still rather new to Xion. She knew of it vaguely before coming to the Thor, and Kurt had explained the basic concepts explained to her earlier in the month. Still, she wanted to know more, so she made sure to check out a couple of books on the holiday when she went to the library.

On her way back to her room after said visit, she decided to pass through the park. There was no harm in taking a little detour, right? She hadn't been there in a while, though, so the radical change in scenery surprised her. She stared in awe at the new decorations-especially at the tree, as she slowly approached it.

Christmas could probably be considered a fairly new concept to everyone on Thor, but it seemed like a nice holiday for everyone.

She continued to observe some aliens add their decorations and ornaments to the tree without a word. Maybe she was a little lost in thought, but she hadn't noticed Xion yet.

Xion tilted her head as she also watched the tree decoration commence. Was this another sort of holiday tradition? She did remember Kurt mentioning something about trees during their Christmas crash course...

As her eyes darted around the snowy landscape, she spotted a familiar face. She eventually wandered over to the older woman, a small smile on her lips. "Amaterasu?"

Her ears flicked first and she blinked, snapping out of her thoughts. She turned, smiling when she noticed it was Xion.

"Ah, Xion. Hello! Have you come to decorate the tree too?"

"Oh, um, no, actually," she replied hurriedly, shaking her head. "I was just passing by the park on my way back to my room..." She paused as she once again turned her head towards the tree in question. She then looked back to the goddess, asking, "Is all this for Christmas, too?"

"Oh, I understand."

Amaterasu looked around for a moment and then nodded, "Yes. Well, the tree is. The snow was... somewhat for it. It would've been made since it's winter after all, but if goes well with the decorations."

"I see... this is what winter is like, right?" She held out her hand to catch some stray snowflakes, watching as they melted in her palm. She was still learning things-seasons, holidays, weather... it was all still so new to her. But she didn't mind at all-quite the opposite, actually. She enjoyed learning about these new things, and she loved being able to experience them all.

Eventually coming out of her reverie, she turned back to the goddess and asked, "Do you know much about it, Amaterasu? Christmas, I mean."

"Yes, though, Itegami could tell you more." She watched Xion catch the snowflakes and raised her eyes to the sky, "This is controlled, of course, but winters can have less snow or have harsh winds. We don't want anyone freezing though."

Amaterasu blinked and looked back at Xion, shaking her head, "No, I don't. Christmas... would be a foreign holiday. I read up on it though... is there something you want to know?"

I tried but it's putting up a good fight

She tilted her head to the side a bit. "Can you... control weather?" That was the gist she had gotten from what Amaterasu said.

"Oh, I see," she replied. "I read about it, too. I just came from the library to get more books on it, actually." She pointed to the bag slung on her shoulder, which indeed had several books inside it. "I've been getting really curious, because it seems like something important to a lot of people here."

Don't give up!

"Yes." Amaterasu blinked. Uhm, Xion caught the rest of what she said, right?

"It does seem that way. It's a lovely holiday, but it seems to make people only generous and kind for one month." She smiled though. "Despite that, it's nice to see everyone happy."

"That's amazing." She took another minute to glance around the park. To be able to create this kind of winter wonderland... she grinned at Amaterasu. "Thank you for doing this."

She held a hand up to her chest, eyes closed, but the smile on her face was radiant. "Even if it's just for a month, it's better than not at all. Seeing everybody getting along is a great thing."

"Thank my son as well. Of course, just try not to startle him."

"Hopefully, everyone will stay in a good mood for New Years as well." She looked around, "Both of these holidays are so close... I haven't been this busy for a while."

"Your son... the Itegami person you mentioned before?"

"New Years?" She paused, a confused look crossing her face. She soon lit back up as she remembered, though. "Oh right, new years start on January 1st. My world didn't have a calendar, so I still get confused about things like this. I've been getting better at not mixing things up, though."

"Yes, he's one of them."

"You'll get them straightened out. New Years is very important to people in my world and in others," Amaterasu said, smiling still, "It welcomes to first sun and the new year with festivities. It's a very joyous occasion." Maybe Ammy should make a kimono for Xion; she would have something to wear for that day.

"I see... having family around is the greatest," she said, smiling fondly. Even if she didn't have a family in the traditional sense of the word, she definitely had one in the friends with whom she shared unbreakable bonds.

"Holidays are really amazing... just imagine what it would be like, if every day was a holiday." She blinked a couple of times after she said that, then grew sheepish as she thought over her words again. With a weak laugh, she added on, "But I guess that would take away the point of them being special days, huh?"

"Yes, it's nice..." Itegami was enough for her not to feel so lonely. The others were still out there... somewhere.

"Everyday is special, Xion. Having a chance to make friends, new memories, be with loved ones, or just simply being alive. There's no need for a holiday to make one day be any more special than the last." She probably sounded corny, but it's true. Many seemed to take life for granted often.
