It had been relatively easy to track down some suitable portable food--a couple of simple bento boxes--and a slim collection of Sherlock Holmes mysteries. Stein was pleased with his success and celebrated by heading for the destination that he had had in mind when he made his purchases--Holmes' room.
There wasn't a whole lot of pomp and circumstance to it; Holmes' door opened and Stein let himself in. Life is simple that way.
