America finally found the right floor he was supposed to be on, and started heading down the room corridor. He wasn't really paying attention to where he was going-- his injury was starting to hurt again-- and he absolutely crashed into Canada in front of the door.

"Owowowowowowowowowow--!!"

Canada went sprawling as something ran into him, Kumajirou landing heavily (but safely) on his stomach.

"Ohffff--" The breath effectively knocked out of him, he took a couple breaths before shifting to see what he'd collied with.

Seeing the all-too-familiar face of his brother, Canada groaned softly.

"Really. I've told you before - you're too hasty..."

All-too familiar face, which is currently wincing in pain. "Huh?"

Eventually America manages to actually look at what he crashed into, and he smiled an easy smile. "Oh, heya, Mattie! Didn' see ya there."

Canada muttered softly to himself as he got up. "You'd think that out of everyone, at least you would be able to recognize me properly." But then, their relationship had kinda always been like that.

Returning his smile a bit uneasily Canada stepped forward to put his hands gently on America's shoulders.

"I am glad to see you. Especially after the time you've just had. I'd like to at least make you dinner for your birthday or something..." But he had next to no money. Maybe their roommates would allow him to cook something with their ingredients?

"Really, sorry, Mattie. I wasn't payin' attention to where I was goin." America very carefully picked himself up off the floor, dusting off his old-fashioned clothes.

He blinked at his brother's suggestion. "Well, that'd be nice. Maybe they'll have somethin' in the room." He's actually pretty mellow for once. He must've been...thinking. Holy crap, stop the press, he was thinking.

Well... wow. Not only was America considerably more low-key than usual, he actually said sorry. As if there was nothing wrong with him.

But for now, it was America's birthday, and his brother deserved the best of him on this day.

"Sure. I hope they at least have maple syrup..." Because he can't imagine a pantry without it.

"They better! C'mon, what's breakfast without syrup!?" Because even Americans eat maple syrup with their pancakes and waffles.

And yes, America is pretending that nothing is wrong. Standin' tall, standin' proud!

(And coffee?)
"Not breakfast at all," Canada cheerfully replied. "But, you feel like having breakfast now?" It felt more like dinner time to him.

Taking Kumajirou into his arms again, he stepped up to the door and gave a tentative knock. Hopefully Sherlock Holmes, whom he'd met earlier by video, or one of the other roommates would be in. It just didn't seem right to go in to the room right away. Besides that, they would need permission to use any food.

[ooc: and now we can throw Holmes and Canada into a mysterious parallel time-warp, doing intros all over again... ^.^o]

(Of course, but that is an absolute given.)

"It was morning just an hour ago!" America followed Mattie to the door, pouting. He kinda wants pancakes now.

Though it usually takes a tremendous effort for Holmes to answer the door, this time, he does-- he's been informed that he is to have new roommates, and it would hardly have been good form if he'd ignored the knocking.

So he appears, ragged and disheveled as usual, leaning against the half-open door for support.

"Good evening, gentlemen."

Oh, no! Did they get their roommate up from sleep or something? Although he looks more disheveled in person than on the Guide, the man is easily recognizable.

"Good evening," Canada returns with a kind smile, trying his best to make a good first impression. "A pleasure to meet you in person, Sherlock Holmes."
Shyly holding out his hand for a handshake he adds, "I'm Canada."

For a beat he hesitates, then nods towards his brother. "And this is my brother, America." (Who is well able to introduce himself, but Canada figured that it would be most polite to continue the introductions.)

"Hi!" America waved cheerfully, grinning like a moron. Sleeping? That's what he wanted to do, too! So the sooner they get inside, the sooner he can find a bed and sleep in it.

"I see the family resemblance." Which means that he could tell that they were brothers just by looking at the particular shaping of the inner ear-- but he won't go into that. He moves to take both of their hands to shake them, and then motions for them to come inside. He may be messy, but he's left the living room somewhat intact (for now).

"The ship may take some time to get used to, but I assure you that it is not as terrible as it seems."

Canada's totally not surprised by that - he gets mistaken for America all the time, after all.

"Thank you. That's good to know."

Stepping inside with a nod of thanks, he pauses. With the three of them in the room, it seems rather small. With a glance at his brother (who is again causing trouble for him, whether he knows it or not), Canada decides to follow through on his hasty, albeit sincere, promise to make a meal for him.

"Um, I'm sorry to trouble you, but do you happen to have any food you can spare for tonight? I will replace whatever I use..."

The inquiry makes Holmes stand up a little straighter, and then cock his head. In fact, he doesn't remember having gone out to do the shopping in a while; he's been making do with eating whatever was provided to him at the school's cafeteria, where he's working as a teacher's aide.

He moves over to the refrigerator and opens it slowly, finding...very little that can be used for cooking, of course.

"Ah. We seem to be out of food."
