What: It's been a year since Polly set foot on the Thor, and she wants to celebrate! Mix, mingle and have fun!
When: Oct 5th! (but late tags are welcome)
Where: One of the Thor's gardens.
Warnings: Beware of flying armadillos, and don't step on the mome raths.

Tea and Edibles

Ed isn't really one for drinking tea. After spending so many years around the military, coffee was much more his thing (though even he was aware how terrible military coffee was). But this was Polly's party, so of course he had to come. The first thing he did upon arriving, after giving Polly a wave, was make a beeline for the food. Because no party was complete without some decent munchies, and it looked like Polly had gone all out.

X-D I... can't quite bring myself to be surprised, for some reason.

Polly wanders over to see how Ed's doing. In the process, her eyes sweep over the table for the 12th time, having the nervous feeling that something may have gotten left out. She notices, upon approaching, that Ed seems to be impressed, though, and this makes her relax a bit more.

"Hi, Ed! Do you think I forgot anything?"

Ed grinned broadly as Polly came over. He'd already piled a plate high with all sorts of cakes and pie and cheese and a couple hamburgers. Just to start off. He quickly swallowed the onion ring he'd been snacking on.

"Forgot anything? Absolutely not. It looks great. And tastes great too. You did a great job getting all this together."

*pets him and offers some pizza*

She cannot help but grin back, a pleased blush rising to her cheeks.

"Thanks!"

Taking up her own plate, she got a slice of cake for herself, as well as a few dumplings, then poured a cup of jasmine tea. She hasn't talked to him since they'd gotten back his memory, but she can't help but notice that he seems to be quite a bit more like his old self.

"So, what job did you get this month?"

om nom nom nom nom nom nom~

Ed found a pitcher of iced tea and poured himself a glass.

"I'm on a panel for a show where we make fun of people doing stupid stuff on video. It's going to be fun."

He looked around for somewhere to sit, and did a double take when he spotted the flower tables and toadstool chairs.

"Are those real toadstools?"

Polly grinned and nodded.

"Aphrodite helped me pick them out! They grow them down in the agriculture lab--I guess there's a whole line of furniture made out of plants!"

Taking up her own plate and cup, the girl nods in the direction of the nearest table and chairs. It's kind of obvious she's been itching to go examine them more. With all the bustle of setting up the party, she hadn't had a chance to do so since the initial choice to use them.

"Wanna try them out?"

"That's very... ecologically friendly," Ed said, giving the plant furniture a critical eye. It looked stable enough...

When he notices the expression on Polly's face, he grins.

"Hah, of course!"

He goes over to the closest empty table and gives one of the toadstool chairs an investigative nudge with his toe. When it doesn't give, he carefully takes a seat.

Setting her own plate down, Polly pressed a hand against the top of the toadstool. It was springy just like a cushion would be, and for some reason this amused her to no end.

She couldn't help grinning at him as she took her seat.

"How do you think they breed them?" she murmured, leaning down to examine the table's stem and poking at it. It all had the same textures a normal flower would have, but managed to be sturdy enough to bare the weight of the dishes.

"Isn't it amazing what you can find on this ship, sometimes?"

Ed settled himself comfortably into the toadstool chair, still a little surprised it was taking his weight.

"Breed? Probably in test tubes..." Ed dug around in his mind for what little he knew on mushrooms. Most of his knowledge was on which ones were and were not safe to eat. "Mushrooms reproduce asexually, so it's not the same as breeding peas or sheep or something like that. You'd have to cross the spores somehow..."

Ed picked a mince pie from his plate and took a bite.

"They certainly can be imaginative, I'll give them that."

Awww D-: *offers nice healthy tea*

"Spores...?"

Botany hadn't been covered in school, yet. She decided maybe she should set aside some free time for it. She hadn't even known you could breed peas! She wondered how that worked...

She grinned. He'd said the magic word.

"Very imaginative! I don't think I'll ever get tired of living here."

Botany wasn't one of Ed's specialities, but the basics of genetics ere enough of an interest of to him for Ed to have spent some time researching them once upon a time.

"They do like to keep things interesting around here, don't they?"

As if on cue, one of the croquet mallets wandered by, a green feather or two drifting in their direction. The animal pauses, seemingly smelling something appetizing on Ed's plate. Sizing him up with one beady, black eye, the animal begins to edge closer.

Polly frowns slightly, watching the creature watch Ed.

Always one to notice when his food is being threatened, Ed spots the green feathery mallet eyeing his plate. He shoots it a 'do not even go there' look.

"Oi. Get your own plate."

The creature ruffles its feathers at him, seemingly taking the challenge to heart as a rather evil glint enters its eyes. Perhaps Ed's plate could become it's own plate.

It takes a few steps forward, long neck weaving as if trying to decide the angle of attack.

Polly is slowly rising from her seat, trying to figure out how to keep this from becoming a brawl.

Ed points his fork at the creature in a threatening manner.
