As per usual Asch found himself in the middle of a dream. He was training with Van back in the Oracle Headquarters in Daath, dealing blow after blow with a training sword, Van tirelessly continuing to block and parry. It went on like this for ages until out of nowhere a squadron of soldiers appeared and came rushing in Asch's direction. Just as he had aimed a fatal slash and seen the nearest soldier crumple to the floor, Asch jumped awake, his heartbeat thudding in his throat and his breath coming fast.

He laid there where he was, finally reaching up wearily to push his bangs out of his face. That was when his elbow nudged something that should not have been there, but he was too groggy with sleep to immediately notice.

Despite his protestations, Yuri didn't always sleep that well himself. He had nightmares he'd never admit to - at least, sometimes he had them. Just his luck that tonight was one of the nights when he didn't, when instead he was sleeping peacefully and far too deeply to have noticed the sudden change in beds and sleeping companions.

It wasn't the first bed he'd shared and definitely not the first time he'd been elbowed when doing so. So he didn't even open his eyes, just shoved the elbow out of the way. "Quit it," Yuri said, though it was still mostly indecipherable, and rolled over, away from prodding elbows.

When he heard the murmur, it became apparent that something was wrong. Asch's mind tried to grasp at exactly what was going on. Hadn't he just been shoved? Was the soldier not yet dead?

The ex-commander was nearly certain that he'd done the other man in. He shouldn't be able to speak, much less move!

Asch quickly hoisted himself into a sitting position, reaching for the sword which wasn't there at his belt.

"Dammit..." Asch shook his head, his vision finally clearing as he looked around the room for, and finally spotted his sword. It was propped up against a chair, right where he'd left it the night before.

In his room. Asch was in his room. It had all been a dream.

However, Asch grew tense as he realized he could still hear the other soldier breathing.

Yuri was trying to get back to sleep, but Wolfram - it had to be Wolfram, didn't it? - was making too much noise. "Go back to sleep," he said, still refusing to open his eyes. If he opened them, he'd be admitting he was awake. And then he'd have to get up and make breakfast and everything else. He wasn't ready for that, not yet. "It's not time to get up yet." At least, it felt early, and he wasn't about to check.

He followed this pronouncement with an annoyed noise, then pulled the pillow over his head. Maybe that would get him to be quiet for at least a little while longer so Yuri could get some more sleep.

What was going on?! Asch's head had cleared by now and he was very aware that he was not alone in his bed when he undoubtedly should have been. Nothing strange had happened the previous night, he hadn't been drinking recklessly, he had made sure the door was securely locked, and had even told it to refuse anyone who happened to pass by his bedroom, including the other two people who lived in the apartment. So why was his personal space being invaded?!

First things first. He needed to get his hands on the Maestro Sword. Once he was armed, he could wake this person up and interrogate them - and then kick them out!

Asch eased himself backwards across the mattress, seeking to reclaim distance as swiftly as possible without alerting the intruder. Now came the hard part. His sword was halfway across the room...

Oh, good. He was getting up. That was fine; Yuri could sleep more and get up when he actually felt ready to face the day. And then something occurred to him and his eyes snapped open. That was fine... as long as Wolfram hadn't decided to try to cook him breakfast again or something. He didn't understand it; he'd showed him how more than once. But it never went well.

Still blinking sleepily, he pulled his head out from under the pillow and forced himself to sit up. This wouldn't take long, or at least he hoped not. "Where are you going?" he asked, and then his eyes finally focused.

That... wasn't Wolfram. And this wasn't his room. He knew he hadn't gone to sleep here last night. So how...? Nah, he'd deal with that later. Yuri frowned a little, shoving his hair out of his face as he looked at the guy trying to sneak across the room. Red hair... it had been awhile since he'd seen him, but... "Luke?"

There was no answer. As Yuri finally managed to sit up, Asch, hearing the shifting of the bedcovers, made a wild lunge for the sword. Once securely in his hands, he turned the blade on the...on the man sitting there on his bed. Why the hell was there another guy in his bed in the first place?! This was beyond just annoying, it was downright humiliating! On the other hand, if it had been a woman, things would have been even more uncomfortable. Women got scared and cried. Asch hated that.

Scowling openly, Asch studied Yuri. He didn't know him personally, but he'd seen him before - this was one of the other hike leaders. But even that knowledge didn't shed any light on the current situation.

And with that one word, Asch's mood, which was already bordering on extremely irritated and miserable, plummeted. His face reddened with anger.

"I'm not Luke!!" Asch snapped, his voice still hoarse from having just woken up. "What are you doing in my room?! How did you even get in here?!"

Great. He was still half-asleep, had no idea how he'd gotten wherever he was, and there was an angry guy pointing a sword at him. Yuri glanced around the room, hoping there might be another one nearby, but no such luck. Wonderful. This was definitely not shaping up to be one of his better days.

He yawned, though he kept an eye on the sword as he did. He was less asleep than he'd been pretending now; threats to his life had a way of doing that. "All right, you're not Luke." Which didn't explain why he looked just like him, but he wasn't going to ask a question like that at a time like this. "I guess we haven't met before. I'm Yuri." He gave the angry guy a friendly smile. "And I have no idea how I got here."

Asch lowered the sword slightly, but kept his arm extended just in case Yuri decided to do something the redhead deemed as aggressive or stupid. He didn't seem to pose a threat, and listening to him, it sounded like Yuri honestly didn't know how he'd ended up here either.

"Asch," the noble replied, ignoring Yuri's attempts at being friendly. He'd heard the name 'Yuri' somewhere before, but what did that matter? Asch wasn't exactly a ball of sunshine in the morning...not like he ever was. "You're working at the camp this month."

After a moment of silence Asch lowered the weapon the rest of the way.

"The ship's engine must be acting up again. I didn't invite you here."

"Yeah, that's right - leading nature hikes." Now that the weapon was lowered, Yuri felt more at ease. "Guess you're really not him - you're not lecturing me."

He lifted a hand and rubbed the back of his neck, trying to remember. No, he definitely remembered going to sleep in his own room last night. "Unless we both have some sort of amnesia, you didn't."

Now he was really awake. Not much point in trying to go back to sleep and that wasn't even considering that it wasn't his bed and Asch didn't look too welcoming. "Mind if I get up?"

Asch scoffed at that. "I seriously doubt that idiot would have turned his sword on anyone. Most likely he'd have asked you to join him for breakfast." Asch might have been exaggerating Luke's peacekeeping efforts somewhat, but from what he had seen, the other redhead was entirely too optimistic and eager-to-please.

Amnesia... Asch shook his head emphatically. "No. I remember everything up until the time I fell asleep."

Not being in the mood to strike up a conversation, the noble took several steps back to give Yuri enough room to move.

"Go right ahead."

Yuri laughed at that, but shook his head at the idea. "Nah, I don't think so. Last I heard, I wasn't exactly his favorite person." He still thought Luke had way overreacted and that it wasn't his business anyway, but no point in rehashing old business with a stranger, however much he looked like the guy in question.

"Yeah, me, too. So unless I've taken up sleepwalking, something's up." He glanced around the room, trying to figure it out, but the lack of windows made it hard. "What room is this, anyway?"

With a nod, he got out of the bed, then glanced down. Oh yeah, he'd definitely been asleep when this had happened. "Sorry about this. It's not how I'd usually meet someone."

"No. Even if you'd been sleepwalking, the door was locked. You wouldn't have gotten in," Asch said matter-of-factly, "It must have been something else. If it happened to others, they'll be sure to post about it on the network at some point." It was worth looking into, in any case. As soon as he got rid of his "guest".

"It's mine. This is apartment 5-3."

Asch lacked the tact to offer Yuri a robe, but at the very least had the decency to avert his eyes. Normally you didn't carry out a conversation with someone in your underwear.

"I should hope not. Now if you're done talking, you're free to leave."

But from the way Asch's jaw was set, he was obviously displeased. What he really meant was "get out now".

"I live in 8-5 - even if your door opened, it would be a long way to sleepwalk." He didn't mean anything by it; it was just a comment.

However, unfortunately for Asch, while Yuri picked up on the meaning behind his words and noticed his discomfort, he wasn't inclined to make it easy on him. Not when Yuri felt so uncomfortable himself. So he smiled, one hand going to his hip in his habitual gesture.

"You're going to throw me out? Like this?"

[lol I'm so sorry. XD]

It was a comment Asch didn't bother acknowledging. They'd already established a case of sleepwalking as unlikely.

Shooting a glare in the other man's direction, Asch replied, "If you're capable of standing before a stranger like that, you should be equally capable of walking down a hallway. It's not my problem."

If the situation had been different (and less abrupt), Asch might have been more willing to help, but as things stood, he really just wanted Yuri gone.
