Where had he put them?
Envy felt like a squirrel in the spring. They spent so long hiding hundreds of little nuts everywhere before hibernation so that they would have food when they awoke. But when it came time to eat they couldn't remember where they'd hidden most of it. It wouldn't have been so hard to remember if Envy's head hadn't been cracked open. If his lungs weren't filling with blood and his insides bleeding out.
Painstakingly he lowered himself back onto the floor and shifted his weight just enough so that he was resting somewhere between one side and his chest. The pain was getting worse. The breathing was harder and more labored and he knew that he must have had five minutes. Did he even have that much at all?
Where were they?
Where were they.
All he needed was to remember and then Zexion would grab them. He would find them and bring them to Envy and everything would be all right again. Even one stone would be enough to keep him lasting long enough to find the rest.
They were somewhere. Somewhere no one should have been able to find them. Envy hadn't placed them in the open. Think. Think.
Zexion would save him. He needed Zexion to save him.
Because you can't save yourself. You're so fucking weak you can't save yourself and you need him. It makes you feel better, doesn't it? That he wants to save you. You said you didn't need anyone. You liar. Liar liar liar.
The day he'd hidden them he'd made sure that Zexion hadn't been there to see. He'd wandered the cabin, thinking of the layout of his own, and decided. Hiding them in something soft like the couch or a mattress meant someone might feel them. Hiding them beneath something heavy meant if he hadn't had the strength to get them when he needed, he'd die regardless.
Where were they?
They were somewhere. They were--
Oh.
There.
"The light in your room. The one on the ceiling." Envy laughed and his shoulders shook with it; how'd he forget that?. "They're there."
