Yoruichi raced to the hospital after breaking the connection with Riza. She'd only paused for as long as it had taken to undress and transform, as Riza's shaken demeanor alone was enough to drive home how bad things were. Obviously she'd had good reason for enlisting Yoruichi and Kisuke's help earlier; while they hadn't been able to prevent this, Yoruichi was determined that they'd be able to help in the aftermath.

For someone who'd remained in hiding for a century, it was child's play to make it to the hospital unseen. While her cat form wasn't exactly a secret, most people still paid no attention to a stray animal; the few times she was actually visible, her presence was ignored. True to her word, she arrived barely ten minutes later.

She scratched at the door, knowing better than to simply barge in while Riza was this tense. "It's me," she said, her gruff, old-man voice pitched to carry through the door. It might not be necessary to avoid the use of names, but she didn't want to take any chances.

Riza snaps her revolver back into position at the sound, out of her chair and immediately pressed against the wall beside the door. She recognizes the voice, and has faith in Yoruichi's abilities, but experience had taught this situation called for caution.

Her revolver is pulled to the ready when she opens the door just enough to let the little cat inside. There's a hitch in the Colonel's breathing--her attention snaps to the rising and falling of his chest, and the fight drains out of her.

"Yoruichi..." She holsters, looking tired. "Thank you for coming."

Yoruichi slipped inside, letting Riza close the door behind her. "It's no trouble," she said, looking towards the hospital bed. Roy looked to be in pretty bad shape, and she inwardly winced, noting the strain in Riza's manner ( ... )

Slowly, painfully, the shattered pieces of her control are dusted off and fit back into place. The cracks were evident, but even going through the motions of being pretending to be calm made her feel better. She had spent years cultivating and perfecting this control; if it kept failing her when she needed it, what was the use?

So up it went again--the other woman had seen her laid raw long enough.

She nodded at Yoruichi and took her place at the bedside, keeping an impassive gaze trained on the monitors he was plugged into, making note of every irregularity in their pattern.

Yoruichi kept her attention concentrated on her patient, letting healing kidou sink into Roy's body. She knew he wasn't in any danger of dying, as his injuries were responding well to the healing. Organs were regenerating, flesh was knitting together, blood was being replenished.

It was slow going, and he would still be quite some time recovering. But this would cut his convalescence down to a fraction of what it would have been otherwise.

Belatedly, she started, pulling herself out of the deep focus she'd fallen into over the past twenty minutes or so. "He'll recover," she said, flicking her eyes up to Riza. "His body is responding to the healing, and I'm able to regenerate what's been damaged."

As she spoke, the blue glow around her hands never faltered. She frowned as a lock of her hair fell over her shoulder, tossing her head in an attempt to get it to lay along her back once more. It wasn't really in the way, but it could be, and she didn't need the distraction.
