[Souryo, having had a bad experience with his usual prey of women, has chosen Ace to devour. There's little chance Ace will set him one fire, right?

Right?

Anyway, the fellow just transforms and leaps at Ace from behind-no point being clever.]

[ He senses the rushing well enough, but instead of making any move to dodge, Ace simply waits for it with his back to the homunculus, hands tucked into his pockets. ]

[The giant mantis curves its long arms around to stab at Ace's chest, whilst also kicking out with his front legs from behind-Rightfully working out that it would be difficult to dodge and impossible to block.]

[ Ace is no stranger to love back attacks. While most would expect to come into contact with a solid body, all the mantis gets is a faceful of fire. If his initial momentum's strong enough, he'll probably be sent barreling straight forward while the flames gather and reform into the shape of the human who, by all rights, should probably've been sliced to ribbons by the initial attack. ]

[Souryo knows the rules of physics and so does the universe, and thus, he does in fact end up tangling up his arms and legs, rolling himself into a big flaming metal ball and slamming into a wall.]

Aagh...Fire...again...

Hm?

[ He takes a step toward the tangle of metal. ]

S'this how you say hello to people?

[With a clattering noise, he unfurls himself, the burnt parts hardening, falling off and being replaced already.]

Generally, it's how I say goodbye.

[ Raises an eyebrow.

A regenerator, huh. This could get interesting. ]

Ah. I did think something was off - you're doing things backwards.

[With a barely audible 'zumph' noise, and a blink of an eye later, Souryo is back to his human form, a fake smile across his lips.]

Ah, well, parting with someone you get to know, that's just too much pain for my poor heart. Best say goodbye before you get acquainted.

[ that sort of makes sense. he can dig it. ]

Well then, I'd hate to hurt your feelings any more than absolutely necessary, so -

[ fire surges up his arm ]

Let's make this quick, yeah?

Just what I was thinking.

[Raising a hands in a 'gun fingers' pose, he points at Ace-but then shifts the aim so that they're pointed to just to the sides of him. Transforming, the arms extend like rapid bullet fast spears, striking the walls to either side of Ace. And then retracting when he returns to human size.

With a slow groaning noise, and a second of 'what the fuck just happened' from the universe, two water pipes burst open.]

I'm not a fan of fire.

[ Tch. Water was something he could do without for the moment. ]

I figured that much. It's all you're getting today, unfortunately -

[ He mirrors the gun-point stance Souryo took just moments before, shooting a steady stream of bullets from his fingertips in a sweeping arc. ]

Higan!

AUGH-

[The human body only received one burning bullet before he returned to the mantis form, scaling the wound up. Now in his monsterous form, Souryo's large bladed arms swung rapidly, smothering the flames out with their blows.]

Sorry-I'm faster than a speeding bullet.

[With a crackling sound, the burn mark on his body hardened and dropped off, fresh metal underneath.]

And as much as it hurts, fire is still an attack which harms the outside-very easy to just heal away.

That's fine. S'all I had to know, actually.

[ holding his ground in the now inch-deep water, Ace gathers fire in his hands. The flames start out in his palm, then grow and lengthen, forming a pair of lances the pirate hurls quickly forward, one into the mantis' face ]

Shinka -

[ ... and the other directly at his chest ]

Shiranui!

[willhavewings]

[There was that 'zumph' noise again, and suddenly, those lances were aimed far above a human's head, instead of at the vulnerable spots of a giant mantis.]

Ah...I like the way you do that. Alright-

Mantis-
[He lifts a finger again, transforming then in that bullet speed spear method, aiming between Ace's eyes. Surely destroying the brain would at least slow him down was his reasoning.]
Spear!
