[The wonderful smells had drawn her here. Smells of fruits and flowers in profusion. It was, perhaps, the closest she'd yet found to home, to the Serenes Forest and its tall, ageless, whispering trees. Nothing could replace that, perhaps...but this helped somewhat.]
[The abundance of plantlife was certainly encouraging, even if Leanne wasn't quite sure why she'd never found this grove before. To have missed something like this!]
[But she'd found it now, and that was all that mattered, for the moment. Charmed by the sights and sounds - and the aromas - she had been content to simply wander about, listening, watching. She didn't seem to be alone...so many other people were here, as well! Though she could not blame them.]
[Still, she eventually found herself drawn to one place in particular - a tree, a remarkably tall tree. The largest she'd discovered all day.]
[And now she approached the trunk - attention for the moment bent upon the majestic plant, so that she did not notice the dozing figure seated there, for the moment. Pausing a mere few feet away, her gaze was instead directed upwards, observing the leaves and boughs.]
[Fai had almost slipped into a complete sleep, when he heard a faint voice. It was almost inaudible, yet he could tell it was close. Blinking his eyes open, he glanced up to see the voice's source. All his eyes met were darkness, which confused him for a moment, until he remembered it was his cloaks hood.
Pulling it back, he looked up to see a rather lovely young lady. She seemed engrossed by the tree, having a similar reaction to him when he first noticed it. He remained silent for a moment, merely watching her.]
[She'd have been quite content to simply stand there and listen to the tree, really - but a movement at the base of the trunk finally caught her eye. And she noticed another presence at last.]
...Oh!
[Out of habit she takes a step back, wide green eyes a bit wider, the large white wings on her back flaring for the briefest of moments before settling back down.]
[This really was rather surprising.]
Um, I am very sorry, sir! [And out came the apology, tumbling, a bit uncertain. Had this one been sleeping?] I did not mean, to disturb you...
[Fai hadn't expected this young woman to be so startled by his presence. He had merely been laying at the base of a tree, trying to wash away the exhaustion from the day. He blinked a little in response, somewhat surprised when a pair of pure, white wings opened out upon her back. An Angel perhaps?]
It's quite alright. You didn't disturb me at all.
[Standing upright, he brushed his clothing off, stretching and yawning a little before stepping away from the tree. He did not grow too close to the woman, not wanting to frighten her in anyway, but he did smile warmly. If anything, Fai just wanted to show he meant no harm.]
I needed to get up anyway. I've been napping on and off for too long~
[Now that the initial surprise was dying down...hm. This one did not seem so bad. An air of well-meaning friendliness permeated this one, at the moment.]
[As he stands up and steps away from the tree, she doesn't make any move to back away, know that she knows he's friendly. On the contrary, in fact...how strange.]
[What is this strange attraction...?]
[Ah, right, but he was still there, of course - beorc did not like long silences, she'd learned.]
[And so she settles with tilting her head curiously, at his words.]
[As he grew closer, he was able to get a better look at this angelic figure. She was rather stunning up close...He felt compelled to step even closer, but couldn't explain why...]
[That aside though, he was rather happy she hadn't backed away. It was a nice change of pace to not have people always being weary or afraid. ]
Ah! Yes, I've been rather tired as of late and this tree seemed like an ideal place to rest.
[Smiling softly, he turned and placed a hand against the tree's trunk.]
I've always found myself fond of how peaceful nature can be.
You have been very tired? Then, it is certainly good, that you are resting!
[She notices the fond way he refers to the tree, and that's enough to bring a smile to her own features as well. It was always rather nice, meeting a beorc that appreciated things like these!]
Of course, nature is always very peaceful. Things will always grow to their own steady pace...it is only us, that brings difference to it. Whether it be more harm, or more good...
But, this tree is a very nice one, isn't it? It seems to carry a fine mantle, of many years. Still rather young, but it is tall, and strong...
[An eagerness to talk to this man was becoming apparent, though Leanne herself wasn't quite sure why. It just felt...so very right, somehow.]
[He turned from the tree, tilting his head slightly as he smiled at the woman. Her voice was tantalizing to say the least. It was unmistakable, but Fai found himself wanting to converse even more with her. Stepping a little closer, he nodded a little.]
It is, isn't it~ Well, I'm not tired any more! So that's a good thing.
[He chuckled lightly and glanced at the tree once more.]
This one is truly beuatiful. If it could speak, I think I would simply sit and listen until it had no more to say. I hope the years to come are generous to it.
[Fai turned his head about once more, finding himself standing just before the young woman. He did not know if it was too close or not, but he felt himself being drawn to her...and liking it. He bowed his head, sweeping his arm across his chest as he did so.]
Forgive my late introduction, but my name is Fai. It's truly a pleasure to meet you.
[This was new. His face actually flushed with color. It had been years since he'd felt an emotion like this. Why now? Fai had only just met Leanne...and yet...it felt so right.]
Leanne. Such a lovely name for such a lovely young woman...
[Where did that come from!? He meant what he said, but he didn't expect it to come out like that. On the other hand, she was just so adorable...He wanted to say more; compliment her beauty even more...]
[The flattery was very surprising, in a most pleasant way. Of course, she'd been spoken to like that before, a few times in the past...but she'd never paid too much thought to it then, with the child's mindframe she usually maintained.]
[Coming from Fai, however, she found a blush creeping up her cheeks before she'd quite realized it. She might have even giggled a bit - oh, but that was very unbecoming...]
Th-Thank you, very much! It is very kind of you, to say something like that...
I think, that your name is especially nice, though. I have never met someone by the name of 'Fai' before. [^.^] It is...a very handsome name!
[A handsome name!? Fai felt the warmth spread across his face once more. He wanted to look away, sheilding the emotion he was feeling, but his eyes were fixed upon Leanne's. He could not look away...In fact, he didn't know why he wanted to look away anymore. She was dazzling. As she giggled, he felt his heart skip a beat. What an enticing laugh...]
A-ah! Thank you, Leanne. No one has ever complimented my name before.
[He smiled a little awkwardly. What on earth was going on? Fai found himself thoroughly infatuated with Leanne, but he had only just met her! As he was having this little inner monologue, his body had taken the liberty of moving him even closer to Leanne, leaning forward so that their eyes were level.]
I must say...I don't think I've seen eyes as clear and beautiful as yours before.
[He lifted a single hand, brushing it against Leanne's cheek softly. Whatever it was, Fai had certainly lost to it...but he didn't mind in the slightest.]

[Whatever words she might have been about to say in reply simply...washed away when he touched her face. Completely forgetting about them, she found herslf quite rooted to the spot, like another tree.]
[He'd touched her - and...why, it felt so nice. And he was so close now, and leaning forward, so that she could see his eyes clearly - such bright blue eyes, like the sky on a pristine clear day.]
[There was such kindness there......and, much deeper down, firmly buried, a flicker of something dark - past griefs? A great sadness?]
[But she couldn't peer into this one's heart - no, not now, not when the other man was so close. She didn't want to. Didn't...really need to, did she...?]
[What had she been about to say? She couldn't remember for the life of her. Se wanted to thank him for the beautiful compliments, tell him that she didn't deserve them half as much as he did, but...the need to speak had died away.]
[What is this feeling, this...great warmth? There was certainly a blush splashed on her cheecks now...]

[Such warmth spread from her face to his fingers. It was so inviting, he just barely resisted the urge to lean forward and kiss her. It was tempting...oh how very tempting, but he had to hold back. He had only just met Leanne. What would she think of him if he were to do such a thing?]
[As he continued to simply gaze into her eyes, he found himself speechless. He was reminded of the clear night sky of Celes...how brightly the moon and stars danced above. Leanne's eyes had the exact same effect. It was breath taking.]
[Feeling a little more adventerous, Fai stepped a little closer, sliding his other hand around her waist. It rested gently against the small of her back and he lightly tugged her closer. Their faces so close...he could feel the warmth of her breath upon his cheek. Once more, he felt himself blushing.]
[The abundance of plantlife was certainly encouraging, even if Leanne wasn't quite sure why she'd never found this grove before. To have missed something like this!]

...This one, it has many stories to tell.
And, such strange ones they are...
