Who: Lucifer lucifer_aeterna & Shishi singingcherubs What: Lucifer bothering another demon because he can When: Some evening this month? Where: Lux Warnings: Probably just language.
"Is that so?" Without waiting for permission, Lucifer sat next to him, looking him over with cold golden eyes. "And yet you've never bothered to speak to the proprietor? Perhaps your manners are a bit lacking."
"It is generally polite to thank one's host." He waved over a waitress and obtained a drink of his own before continuing, fixing him with a challenging stare. "If the conversation was a concern, then perhaps you should find a less trivial topic."
Lucifer swirled the brandy in his glass, regarding it thoughtfully. For just a moment, as he held it up to the light, one could almost see galaxies revolve within it, but it was only a glimpse, an illusion that faded into amber liquid. Smiling a little to himself, he took a sip, then looked back up to meet Shishi's gaze.
"If I don't frighten you, you are either very brave or very foolish. Or you're lying, of course. I believe we both know which it must be."
Slowly, deliberately, he looked Shishiwakamaru over, from head to toe and back again. With a small smile, Lucifer produced a cigarette, seemingly from nowhere, and lit it with a quiet, murmured word, intentionally making him wait until he'd taken a drag off it before he spoke.
"It's possible, of course," he finally said, his voice soft enough that it shouldn't have carried over the noise of the crowd, "that you truly are that delusional. But I find it unlikely."
"Then perhaps you'd care to offer your own adjective." He'd noted the agitation, but it was only to be expected. He was, after all, deliberately provoking him; he'd have been disappointed if it were absent.
Beyond that, he had no particular goal in mind; he was merely amusing himself and studying Shishi's reactions, for no real purpose. Perhaps it was more habit than anything else, but there was sometimes value to be found there. And why not indulge himself? There was certainly no one here to stop him.
