Ling had been sitting in a chair next to the bed (with a fresh pizza box in his lap, of course), staring intently at Edward for signs of consciousness. To say he was relieved when the alchemist woke up would be an understatement. He'd had too many friends in the hospital lately as it was.

"Hey, Ed." Ling piped up from next to the bed, trying to look as pleasant and not-guilty as possible. "How you feeling?"

Ed smelled the pizza before he saw Ling. His stomach gave a noisy growl and he wondered just how long he'd been out of it.

"Ling... eh, like someone used my head for target practice."

Damn that pizza smelled good. Ed wondered if he should try to sit up so he could eat. Grabbing the siderail, he tried to sit up, but was hit with a wave of dizziness. Flopping back, he winced a little. Fucking head injuries sucked.

Ling smiled sympathetically and put the pizza down on the small hospital dresser thingy, and scooted closer to the bed.

"Maybe you should wait a bit before you try to eat. And, sorry about that. Shinjiro hurled a desk at me, and I dodged it without thinking. Since you were behind me, it kinda clobbered you."

Ah, just within reach. Ed popped open the box and carefully extracted himself a slice. Meat Lovers with stuffed crust. Awesome.

"I'm famished I could... desk? I got brained by a desk?"

Thrown by Shinjiro. Maybe he shouldn't have tried to ignore what Ling was shooting back at Shinjiro. Things were starting to make sense now...

Shinjiro leaned against the door frame, hands tucked away in his pockets. For fuck's sake, he was in this hospital every day now. Maybe he should just move in.

"Sup, Ed."

Ed blinked a little in surprise. If he'd been asked to draw up a list of people he would think might visit him in the event he was hospitalized... Shinjiro would have been on the lower half. Toward the bottom.

"Heh, Shinjiro. What're you doing here?"

He gestured to his own head.

"How's the noggin'?"

"Heh, like someone took a swing at it. With a metre long wrench."

And then he shrugged with a slight grin.

"S'not the worst I've had."

Roy was walking through the hospital to visit Ran Fan when a familiar blonde head caught his eye in another room. Turning around to see if his assumption was correct, he rose an eyebrow and stuck a hand in his pocket.

Can't you just feel the smug radiating off him?

"Well, well. It seems someone got themselves into a bit of trouble. What'd you do this time, Fullmetal? Sign someone up for more blind dates?"

Ed suppressed a groan as he heard an annoyingly familiar voice. It would just be his luck something like this would happen. Shooting the colonel a scowl, Ed scooted down in his bed a little more, hoping the hand in his ex-superior's pocket was just for posing and wasn't actually reaching for a set of white gloves...

"Nothing," he muttered. "I wasn't doing anything. Just sitting in class."

He had been going and apologising to the colonel when he got out, but Mustang could forget about that now.

When would Roy Mustang give up a chance to pose? Luckily, that's all he's doing. Ed's safe, for now.

"Is that so?" The smirk on his face grew. "What happened? Were you not paying attention?"

Ed kept a cautious but casual eye on the colonel. He had done some rather... irritating things to Mustang lately.

"Oh, I was paying attention, to the teacher. Should have been paying attention to the assholes dicking around near me."

This was probably one of the stupidest injuries he'd ever gotten. He'd done absolutely nothing to earn it, and yet here he was in the hospital.

Her head might've been down in class, but the scent of blood had been thick. Ah... Shinjiro will have to watch his track record with her, but that's besides the point right now. Hopefully, he's not allergic to the flowers she's carrying in her mouth.

She glances back at her companion for a second, but then trots over to Edward's bed, her ears twitching a bit as she sits down and paws at the side of his bed.

He had heard through the grapevine that a student had been injured during a class. The circumstances themselves had been vague but, he couldn't help but expect worse in the near future. Fai had attended a class once before and it ended in shrapnel flying everywhere and a table combusting...

Hopefully, nothing along those lines would happen while Fai was teaching. Carrying in a small basket of cookies that had been made earlier that day, he followed behind Amaterasu and came to a stop beside Edward's bed side.

"How are you feeling, Ed?"

Edward was... partially to blame for the blood that had been spilt during Maka's class. He'd have to apologise to her later for the whole eyeball thing... It certainly added an interesting factor to classes on the Thor, that they tended to be a little on the dangerous side.

He gave a confused blink as a wolf padded into his hospital room. While he'd noticed a small handful of the refugees onboard were non-humanoid in shape, this was the first time he'd really met one. He was reminded of Den a little when the wolf pawed at his bed and he grinned.

"Hello, those for me?" he asked as he reached down for the flowers. He touched the blossoms with a nostalgic look on his face, remembering the flowers his mother had grown in her garden.

And then he smelled cookies. Glancing up he grinned a bit more as he spotted Fai with a basket that simply had to contain those cookies. Setting the flowers on his bedside table with a mental note to ask a nurse for a vase, Ed paused as the movement made him momentarily dizzy

Without the flowers in her mouth anymore, she rested her head against the bed, staring up at Edward. Sure, it was kinda his fault, but the desk wasn't meant for him anyway. She would just stay silent... for now. Let Fai and Edward talk.

Al, being family, was exempted from the gift rule.

Ed glanced over at his brother. Like always, Al was never far away. He grinned and flapped a hand.

"I'm good, Al. At least they don't want to keep me here too long."

A small feeling of horror washed over Ed at the mention of their teacher. She never had been forgiving about moments of inattention.

"I'm sorry, Al. You were really looking forward to class and now you've missed part of it."
