Kururu was, from the opposite direction, basically doing the same. She had a hand out stretched in front of her and one on the wall, trying to direct herself around the halls as best as she could in the pitch black. It was difficult, as she'd barely started to get used to the place when the lights were on.
It was weird how, in the dark, every sound seemed amplified. Her own breathing seemed so loud, and each of her steps nearly made her jump. This area of the ship was too quiet, and she was growing increasingly paranoid. Most people got jumpy and uncomfortable in such darkness, and she definitely was.
Hopefully she'd meet someone nice along the way, and they could try to figure things out on her own. Hopefully, the person she'd meet wouldn't be strange or want to cause her harm.
Masaomi had to admit, it was pretty eerie walking in a pitch black hallway in a space ship in, well, space. It was quiet and cold and he could feel the hairs at the back of his neck stand up at every little sound he could hear (or imagine, for that matter). But, he was a man, and manly men didn't get scared of the dark.
So Masaomi kept going on, hand on the wall, and getting a little frustrated without the lights. He couldn't even tell if he was squinting or if his eyes were shut tight anymore. "Man, those lights better come back up soon," he said out loud. Not that he said it because it was too quiet or anything. He wasn't scared of the dark at all.
But then, there, in the distance, he could hear footsteps. Or were they his own, and just echoing down the hallway? He didn't want to admit it but this was getting a little creepy. Just a little. But it wouldn't hurt if he confirmed that it was another person, right? He just hoped it wasn't Izaya.
Kururu jumped when she heard a voice, but was then relieved to hear that it sounded like a boy of around her age. That was probably safer than an old man or some strange, alien creature.
"Y-Yes, I'm right here," she said, reaching out not to walk into him or make this more awkward than it already was. She knew he wasn't very far, but it was hard to judge when all she'd heard a few moments ago was her own breathing and other sounds she wasn't sure were real or from her imagination.
Ah! That voice, it was a girl's! An angel from heaven, surely! Masaomi lightened up, feeling better already. Even if it was still pretty dark and creepy. But he still wasn't scared! Just relieved that heaven sent him an angel to keep him company in desperate times. Yes.
Judging by where the voice came from, she was ahead of him, so he made a few more steps forward, one hand stretched out so he wouldn't miss her. "Aah, I feel lucky, you know?" He said. Maybe speaking will help them find each other. "Because now I'm not alone here. We could find our way together!" Or, alternately, stay there until the lights come back on.
