An Open Letter to LiveJournal

Dear Whoever,

I don't know why you have started to flash a "Log In" page when I try to view a page on LiveJournal. Or, rather, I suspect I do know (advertising or info spam), but I can't confirm it, so...

In any case, the first couple times I saw one of these, I thought, "well, okay, my last login expired, I'll log in again, no sweat" - only to be taken not to the site I was trying to view, but instead to the LiveJournal main home page. And while there may have been a link to follow to go to my own Journal, in times where I was trying to view something else, there was no "click here to go to your intended destination" link, I would be stranded on the LiveJournal home page, required to back up a few pages to find out where I had been trying to go.

Have you fixed it since then? I wouldn't know. Because that practice so offended me that I have, from about the third time I got so stranded, resolved to never use that page to log in again. Ever. I see it, I hit the back button, and just keep trying to get to my original destination. When I do need to sign in, I do it through alternate means.

Whatever gain you thought you would get from pulling this bit of web voodoo has, at least in my case, completely backfired, as I make it a point to not go to LJ central or log in through those damn interrupting screens.

Just so you know.

sincerely blah blah
