Independant Contractor

So, I'm an independant contractor in every sense of the word. I am an IC with ChaCha, as an SMS Guide. I am an IC with My Smart Hands(TM) as a baby sign language instructor. I am an IC with Infant Swimming Resource (C) as an ISR Instructor.

I am excited about these things, but they aren't working according to my original plan. If my original plan had worked out, I would be doing all 3 of these things already.

First, I got into the ISR program in March of 2008. I was officially approved and welcomed on board in May, and have been waiting for my training since then. It was scheduled first forJuly, then moved to August, then moved again to September, and NOW, it has been moved to February. I won't officially be an instructor until then. I am so anxious to get started with ISR, I want this to be the MEAT of my careers. February can't get here fast enough.

Second, I became a ChaCha guide just to get a little extra income. I started answering queries, was doing great, and made $75 dollar doing nothing but sitting at my computer Googling stuff. Best. Job. EVER. Then, my daughter damaged the internet port on the only computer that supports the ChaCha universe. So now, my $75 is lingering in cyberspace, unaccessible so far, and I haven't been answering queries for weeks. The program has changed dramatically since I left and I could have been around for those changes and stayed on top of things. However, once I finally DO get back into the groove with ChaCha, whenever that is, I'll be so far out of the loop I'll take forever to catch up. Oh well!

Third, My Smart Hands. This is something I am REALLY excited about, because I love American Sign Language and have been anxious to learn more of it. I want to become fluent one day. I've taken an official course through LSU, and I've been teaching Hope signs since she was 6 months old. I am a huge fan of baby sign language and I've been a HUGE fan of Laura (the founder of My Smart Hands) and her daughter, Fireese, for a long time. (Check them out at www.mysmarthands.com or look them up on YouTube! Fireese's skills are impressive!)

I was waiting on Infant Swimming Resource for so long, that My Smart Hands has been on the back burner. The original plan for THAT was that I could do ISR lessons in the summer and My Smart Hands classes during the winter. I am disappointed that I have had to let My Smart Hands wait this long, but now I am actually about to get my starting package in the mail! So I will begin teaching sign language to babies very soon. As soon as I find any sort of venue to teach it from I can begin! I have to write up more business proposals.... not exactly my strong point.

So, yea, there you have it. I am a soon-to-be Infant Swimming Resource instructor and I am also a My Smart Hands instructor! I'll eventually ChaCha again, but it's not exactly a priority. I will have 3 jobs and I'm an independant contractor all the way around!!!!

It means I'm my own boss basically. I have protocols to follow and guidelines, but I get to choose when I work, and where, and how much I get paid.

It's going to be excellent. :)

Infant Swimming Resource. The sooner, the safer.

My Smart Hands. Educating young minds.
