At least she looked respectable?
She didn't slouch, walked in with the same commanding air she usually did. In a way, it worked. Nobody approached her and they made way when she passed. Probably a good thing considering the irked expression on her face and her itchy trigger finger yearning for the stun gun in her thigh holster. The last thing she needed was to be jostled.
How exactly would one characterize this place? Seedy, dark, vaguely criminal...hedonism, she supposed.
Ogling an open display of assorted male anatomy wasn't her idea of a good time and not for the reasons others might think. Not shyness or modesty. It was just that...seen one, seen it all?
Considering she was thoroughly desensitized to this sort of thing, it really didn't disturb her except for the fact that it might damage her reputation.
Eyes on her guide. She followed the beeping until...
This had to be some kind of joke.]
What are you doing here, Fire?

[Une. Of all people. And after that argument, too.
She neatly chokes on her drink and hurriedly wipes at the dribble coming from her mouth, face red for a second, then paling a bit.
Damn.
She stands and looks professional.]
Ma'am.
I'm...here for a date.
[Une's Guide. Out and beeping. Her own beeping.
JESUS.]
And here I thought you came for the feathers...
Reply
I'm simply here to avoid the risk of a fine.
[a deep breath to calm herself followed by coughing from the cigarette smoke permeating the air]
Even the atmosphere is toxic. Shall we sync?

But a nod, and she pulled out her own Guide, opening it up and tapping the temporary icon that happened to be a bright red, throbbing heart with the dating service's logo on it.]
I think a few of us are, though I still wonder how anyone can afford to take on the fine.
Five thousand? A bit high. I still wonder how they pay for all of this.
Beeep
[Guides synced.]

[a pause to ponder]
...whatever one would call this.
I think they make money off those who do decide to pay the fine. I know I would if I could have afforded to.
[a smirk]
You seem to have settled in quite well.
[there was an underlying accusation to that statement though it was mirthful and teasing]
Reply
Oogling, I think, is the proper term that more aptly describes it.
[A nod, Noin possibly would have as well, she had not had any intention of suddenly getting engaged and then dropping him in seemingly the same week for a bunch of flings.]
Me? Settling?
Tch, never, ma'am.
[But her eyes gleamed, amused.]
The atmosphere is..nostalgic. Not that we had male dancers but..
[A laugh.]

This sort of display does nothing for me.
[It was forward and blunt but the truth was the truth. With a nod, she took the seat Noin offered her next to the bar. The bruise on Une's forehead had faded and her hangover was long gone but that hardly meant she was going to drink.]
Pity Zechs isn't here to drown in nostalgia with you? I'm sure he'd be pleased to know you aren't settling.
Reply
It's...more amusing for me. I suppose I could find it more fun if I wasn't already attached..
[And Noin noticed this, it made her feel slightly better, but still...there was some remorse and she picked up her beer and took a sip.]
Zechs? Oh dear, no I think it's better he didn't know about this. I have a feeling it wouldn't end well and I'd have to distract him.
[A smile, though it would be nice anyway.]

Find out he's been cuckolded because of me? Perish the thought. We'd have to duel for your honor.
[oh nobility...well, there certainly wasn't anything noble about this place]
Reply
Now dueling?
God, what's next..
You know I don't have any left, right?
[A smirk.]
No, you needn't worry, we actually got each other as dates to begin with, so I'm hoping it will carry him through whatever encounters he has left that he may be uneasy with.
[Pssh, the nobles were then flattering themselves if they forgot how amazingly...squicky and disturbing sometimes their red light districts could get. Or fascinatingly erotic, all through the years through wars, brothels and "artistic theatre" cropped up with live nude shows to youths who may eventually die "without knowing what it's like to even see someone else naked or feel desire."]

[Might as well enjoy one's self despite the less than appealing surroundings? At least the company was tolerable...]
You did? So these match-ups do occasionally get something right. My first date acted in fear when I first showed up. I think he thought I might kill him. Met him previously actually. We were introduced under less than pleasant circumstances and I ended up shooting him with my stun gun for eavesdropping.

Well...I suppose there was that Christmas...
[Tolerable was an understatement, but Noin again also didn't mind her surroundings to the degree that Une did. And it was also nice that Une seemed to have forgiven her...for now. She was still vaguely waiting for the hammer to fall.]
God, Une, no wonder...
[A laugh.]
You shouldn't be so mean to all the poor fellows stupid enough to think they can just win you over.
Reply
What about Christmas? We fought for our lives. Or are you referring to...
[a snort]
That was a one time thing at the Christmas party. Stupid mistletoe.
[wink]
Doesn't count on the grounds of coercion.
And I'll have you know I behaved myself on that date. He's a polite young man.
Tolerable.
[And in Une's book, "tolerable" was a damned compliment already.]
Has a disturbing fascination with Mobile Suits. Should you run into him, you may very well get along.
Reply
You know exactly what I'm talking -
Well, of course!
That mistletoe had perfect timing.
[A chuckle.]
You're starting to recruit them already?
[A scoff.]
Now you're mocking my mobile suit interests - why did they pair me off with you again?
[She downs the entirety of her beer with a satisfied sigh before flagging down a waiter for more.]
Do you want anything to eat, ma'am?
They could...feed us.

[chortles]
Hardly. He's too young. Not the sort who should be falling for someone like me. I'll have to remedy it if he decides to make such a grievous mistake. Zechs should fill you in on how I met that one. He was there when I shot the boy. I must admit it was nostalgic. He looked like one of the ambassadors. The one with the glasses? Probably wrong of me to have used my...
[what to call it?]
...people skills on him to the extent that I did.
And I'm not mocking, simply pointing out a common interest you might have. Who knows? You might be the next match.
[and a smile at the offer]
That would be good. But do they serve anything solid?
[sounds wrong; don't spit take =_=;]
Reply
[Stubborn, but with a faint wink of her own.]
Oh dear, that bad? What exactly was he doing then?
[She leans back, her fingers drumming on the table for a moment.]
I thought he sincerely liked you, and now you found a small mini-clone of him, hm?
You're going to be in trouble.
[She scoffs, lightly playful.]
In his dreams, perhaps.
[Noin has nothing to spittake with. She just stares, then starts to laugh.]
[The waiter looks baffled for a moment, then carefully adds his own laughter to it, because he does find it funny, he just wants tips.]
