i found out today that i am getting at 98% in my math methods course! i worked so hard for that. anyways, this is a summary of an article i have to respond to for that class:

No Child Left Behind
These comments are summarized from an editorial column in the Long Beach Press Telegram, Sunday March 28, 2004.

When politicians turn into educators, education takes a turn for the worse and our children suffer. The concept of “No child left behind,” along with required retention at certain grade levels (e.g.LBUSD) is an oxymoron. Every school classroom is made up of children with a variety of talents and learning abilities. One of the many responsibilities of teachers is to recognize those differences and adapt teaching methods so that all students are provided equitable learning opportunities. Education leaders and politicians have failed to recognize that there is such a thing as multiple intelligences and that not all children learn at the same rate.

preach it.
i'm glad we aren't the only ones who see it.
