From: The Godly Must Be Crazy By Glenn Scherer

(there's one for the senate too)

if you're not a science/math major and you have trouble reading the graph. here's what it shows: the representatives with the HIGHEST christian-right rating have the LOWEST environmental conservation rating. in fact, as the trent line shows, they're proportional! as the the conservation rating goes up, the xian rating goes down. as the xian rating goes up, conservation rating goes down.

seriously mindblowing. i would never have even believed this. i've always taken environmental conservation to be a given. we live on this planet. we must take care of it. d'uh. we HAVE to take care of it for the future of humanity. but here's the thing: christian fundamentalists believe there is NO FUTURE.

"...many Christian fundamentalists feel that concern for the future of our planet is irrelevant, because it has no future. They believe we are living in the End Time, when the son of God will return, the righteous will enter heaven, and sinners will be condemned to eternal hellfire. They may also believe, along with millions of other Christian fundamentalists, that environmental destruction is not only to be disregarded but actually welcomed -- even hastened -- as a sign of the coming Apocalypse."

my only response: WHAT THE FUCK?
50 MILLION people believe this shit? I'm so disconnected it's not even funny.
so much for using the environmental as an all encompassing, uniting political message.
watch me as i dive deeper... and deeper into depression.
