Looks to me that about half the Sphere has a swamp dragon following them around. If Sphere-produced swamp dragons are anything like the real thing, then there's a few things that all of you ought to know ( Read more... )

Well, here's one more question, Commander. How do I tell it to stop trailing me before my other lap-sized dragon tears into it in a fit of jealousy?

From the looks of it? You have to keep your other dragon away from it. Swamp dragons don't usually follow people like this, so I figure that bit's the Tree's doing.

I've just been gone a month. He's fretted like an old dog, and now I've gone and found myself another dragon. You can, I hope, see the problem.

It's unexpectedly good to see you again, too, while I'm on the subject.

I can see it, but unless you can make the swamp dragon go away somehow, both of them will end up exploded. I've had to keep Ingvar away from the one following me, but that bloody cat will pick a fight with anything that moves.

You too. How long were you whisked away for there?

I was afraid you'd say that. Though if the bloody swamp dragon gets much cosier with me, Fuu's liable to just fly off to sulk for a few days. Might be best for his health anyway.

I thought it was ten days. Three times that on the outside.

[A lengthy pause.]

I'd rather say this in your face, sir, but so that I'll get it said. I'd like to take that offer of yours and accept it on a part-time basis as soon as it might suit you. I'd just rather not leave the Guard entirely.

I'd offer to take him off your hands, but I've had awful luck with them so far.

You've looked after enough of this cadre of animals I look to be collecting, Krile.

Awful luck? How so? Is there actually a creature that can resist your charms?

In a way. They explode every time I get near them.

Dragon's bones.

That's probably not the best expression of surprise right now. Then maybe it is better you don't visit for a while. The poor bugger is a pain in the neck, to be sure, but I do draw the line at working to blow it up.

Fuu may stay with me, if he pleases.

[...what, actual kindness? The world must be ending.]

[Struck out so fast.]

Don't blame me when he chatters your ear off

Thank you. I'll pass that on, and hope that it amends the situation.

Hm. He will find me outside my home.

[...since the inside is full of swamp dragons. Such a player, Tian.]

[Outside? That's specific. Not going to ask, not going to ask...]

All right. If he gets to be a handful, just tell him to go amuse himself somewhere else. He just likes attention a little too well.

We are kin. He will be fine among my scales.

[You underestimate the tiny force of nature, Tian, but Hawk's not about to correct you.]

Of course.

About a month, then... quite some time to spend up there, all things considered. Good to see you've returned all right.

You're not accepted quite yet, Hawk. When you've got time, come see me and we'll arrange for you to meet me at the Arena. That's where I do all my hiring. [It will just be a couple more questions and a spar, more for the formality of it than its necessity.]

When we do meet up, bring along your guarding schedule. Those duties will come first.
