I kept reading on several friends pages that unlocked entries 'could' be taken by anyone and posted as their own without repercussions. I have posted photos and screencaps in the past and while I have absolutely no problem with sharing them with my friends (that's why I posted them in the first place), I do not like the possibility of finding my photos on another site with someone else getting the credit. This is just a minor reason though. I do not nearly post photos and pics nearly as often as other people on my flist.
On the other hand I realised over time that I enjoy more privacy. I would like to share my thoughts with my friends. Friends who I know and who share my interests. Sometimes my thoughts are very personal like the death of my beloved dog back in June which hurt me a lot. Other times my thoughts might include my slashy fantasies over fave actors or unpopular 'public' opinions. Again this is something I have no problem sharing with my friends page but with bigotry at an all time high I do not nead outsiders to read it. In an ideal world people who are offended by a subject you write about, should not bother reading your posts. Sadly that does not happen very often. I don't think that anything that I've said so far could be used against me but maybe this is a small way to protect myself and my friends. I've been thinking of going friends only for quiet awhile. It was not a minute decision .
And not another word about your stories not being the greatest. I like them just as they are! Sure there is always room for improvement. Writing abilities grow with experience and experimenting and I don't think I need to tell you again that I like your writing style. I am very glad that you decided to share your stories with us. They enrich the fandom and motivate us to keep talking about it, sharing our thoughts. That's something you should always be proud of. I certainly admire you and every other author who shares his ideas and fantasies with us.
On another note...RPS...as in Colin/Jared? *iscurious* Or do have another pairing in mind?
Do you think it's true? People can just take your work and put their name to it? How horrible. That's not right. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for telling me.
I'm sorry about your dog. Losing a beloved pet can be incredibly hard.
Cool! I'm looking forward to it! Jared is the reason I'm reading more RPS again. I've only done this with some of the LotR cast before but tend to stick to FPS usually. ;-)
Brad/Jared is hot, especially considering the fact that one of them played Achilles and one Hephaestion in a movie role. Two very, very intruiging characters. I do like Colin/Jared (and Matt/Jared) even more but I'd never say no to Brad! ;-)
As for the 'friends only' thing. I advise to ask some more people on your flist, their general opinion on the matter and... if they are f-locked already, why they did it. It should give you a lot more insight than my jumbled ramblings. I'm really no good at putting my thoughts into words. ;-)
