Road trips aren't very fun when:

1) It is dark and rainy...
2) There is bumper to bumper traffic...
3) You are driving by yourself...
4) You are completely exhausted/tired...
5) Your music selection is limited to Kelly Clarkson and various Disney classics (in spanish)...
6) YOUR ROAD TRIP DESTINATION IS EUGENE, OREGON.

We played four games over the course of the weekend, three on Saturday and one of Sunday. It was a beautiful facility: double deep pool with 8 extra lanes for warm-up. The only downside was that the pool was outside and we had to play through the cold and the rain. There was however a hot tub waiting for you once your game was complete.

In the first game we played the University of Portland. This was a new team to our division and lacked heavily in skill. Think of it this way: one of their best players this year was one of our worst players last year. It was a good warm up game for our stronger players, and good experience for our weaker ones.

Our next game was against Oregon State University. Last year we were unable to beat this team in our two meetings. This year proved otherwise. It was a close game, but we were able to capitalize on their weak bench. Our team is about twice the size, and we have about twice the depth as their team, not to mention the fact that they just came off of a tough game against UO. Next time we expect to see a much stronger OSU.

You would think that with 18 drawn kick-outs it would be hard to lose a game... somehow we managed. University of Oregon is the one team we lost to this weekend. It was another close game, but we couldn't bring it together to stop their one threat: a big hole set with a big step out. We finally started dropping on him in the fourth quarter, but we were already 11 goals too late.

Whatcha doin? Nothing, chillin at the Best Western. Let the party begin...

Swimming 6x200 @ 3:00 and 10x100 @ 1:30, is not fun at 11:00 in the morning while hungover. Good thing our next game was against WSU. This was just a bullshit game that immediately followed our swim set. Half of our starters didn't even play, they just got yelled at for sitting in the hot tub with their caps on; those who did play just got kicked out for Ross' (the referee) own enjoyment. I had fun for the two minutes that I played, drawing two kick-outs in one possession and scoring a goal before immediatly being taken out.

I think this weekend was a good indicator of our strengths and weaknesses. We are definitely doing well at drawing kick-outs, but we need to increase our conversion percentage. Overall we just need more experience playing together as a team, and then I believe we will have a great shot at winning the Northwest Championship, and making our mark at nationals.
