learn to cheat myself a little better

Feb 03, 2008 11:36

Fair warning that this is a post of randomness. So went downtown to our favorite bar hideout to see The Duane Durrett Band, who put on yet another spectacular show. If you haven't seen them perform- u really should and if you haven't heard them check out their myspace page- they are a group of very talented musicians. In a guest appearance, Ralph Roddenbury (no where near as old as his name implies) played an intermitten set, and though new to us we'll be back to see him somewhere in the future. (This post is titled after one of his songs incase anyone was wondering when i was going to get ot cheating myself :)

Its been a while since we've been out to the bars because the holidays have a magical tendency to make your discretionary income disappear (and of lesser importance b/c not a damn decent act one was rostered for most of january (no offense Soulhound or Delta Moon). This spot has an ever rotating cast depending on whos playing and this was one of those nights where we felt like younguns at the grown-up table. most everyone else there had to be better than 40. Not that i have a problem with age, before all my older friends here jump on me, it was more the atmosphere created by these people- it was like a family function...and the majority were very much yuppie. Our waitress was particularly unattentive for whatever reason (not that shes ever stellar but when she is always the one serving the stage area- and the neice of the owner- you tolerate it). All that aside it was still a good time and the high average age didn't dampen the quotent of gorgeous looking ladies, regardless of birthdate. The highlight however was after intermission somewhere around 12:30 am, one realized just how drunk the remainder had gotten because when the second round opened we had no less than four older (perhpas moms and daughters, the oldest of whom had to be in their late forties) yuppie women with absolutely no rythum come to the front to, and i use quotes for a reason, "dance." It was probably some of the funniest shit i've witnessed all week. I can't even begin to describe what it looked like but if you ever watched any bloopers from So You Think You Can Dance then yr close to understanding the comedy. We concluded that it was definitly how Hillary Clinton dances when she lets go :P What made it even better was that their faces said that all the wine was telling them that they looked good. Two of them we're really sexy figure and face wise but after that if i was a date i would have denied i came with them. One even got really into it and slapped her own ass a couple of times and felt herself up- it was great...for a laugh. We were waiting for some ass slapping to commence between the two older ladies but alas it never happened although there was a little bump and grind. And for those of you who are wondering, no this was not that *kind* of music.

The whole scene made me want to invest in a video camera and tote that bitch to the bar every time we're out (no this is not the first time we've seen bad dancing but its gotta be the funniest thus far) to capture these moments on film, and, of course, post them for you all to see. Good times.

Well we're off to go gorcery shopping since we're out of EVERY DAMN THING, yeah we've been slackers and suddenly all at once every nessecity in the house is one drop or crumb from gone. As always have a drink on me.

bar, dancing, night out
