Finally a post
Well, I figure I'll talk about some of the stuff I've been keeping busy with that isn't schoolwork. A little while ago actually I ended up at a Deja Vu Discs location that was going out of business - and there was 50% off of everything in the store. Now before you start thinking I'd found my heaven, well, the closing announcement must have been out for a couple of weeks because the place was CLEANED OUT. Seriously, they had about 10% of the stock they normally would, and all that was left was the very bottom of the barrel crap that noone would typically touch.
Well, luckily for me, I loooove me some crappy horror movies, and absolutely stocked up. Found 8 b-horror movies that looked absolutely wretched and snapped up the whole lot which after the discount were only $2.50-$3.00 each. I never really got time to watch them at home so now I've brought them all here to help pass the time.
My favourite hang-out spot HMV is also having a RIDICULOUS sale on some DVDs, especially TV on DVDs, so I couldn't resist - I snapped up the first 4 seasons of Trailer Park Boys and the complete series of Firefly. Now TPB is probably my second favourite comedy series ever (after Arrested Development) so that was a no brainer, but I've never seen Firefly at all. I've heard endless streams of compliments for it though, and often at HMV I'd consider picking it up at it's regular price tag of $44.99. However, in this miracle sale, it was only $24.99 so I figured I couldn't go wrong. There were also stupidly good sales on movies, and I picked up the 10th anniversary 3-disc version of Clerks which had been packaged with Mallrats for a combined $19.99 (and HMV sells the Clerks set for $42.99 on its own so it's a pretty nice deal). I also picked up X-Men 2 for only $6.99 (NEW! The first X-Men was the same price but I bought it ages ago).
And of course there's been music here and there because I can never resist it - well, actually, I've been resisting quite a bit recently, combined with HMV not stocking anything of interest for a while (at least in the metal genre).
So anyway I think for a while I'll write about stuff I watch as I watch it, tidbits here and there. I'm not too much in the mood tonight, but I'm sure I will be soon enough. I watched Clerks tonight for the first time, and man, it deserves all the praise it gets. Much, much respect for Kevin Smith and gang.
Well, I'm going to watch some more stuff tonight for sure, but I'm not sure what yet. I've still got 6 shitty horror movies to watch, about 6 quality movies that I've either bought or brought from home, Season 4 of Trailer Park Boys, and about half of Firefly. Oh yeah, Firefly? Really, really well done, and even almost as good as the froth-at-the-mouth fanboys and fangirls make it out to be ;)
