Wow, it was a very busy week. In brief:
Monday night the celebration was held for my aunt's life, per her wishes. It was held at the Elgin Theatre, and there were hundreds of people there. Hundreds. Two floors of expansive lobbies with wall to wall people. I tell you, I'm sure glad I didn't have to wade through it at eye level :P There were a lot of speeches with some musical performances sprinkled throughout. The mood was generally happy, although of course the bittersweetness overcame some people at times. By this time I had essentially come to terms with everything and was prepared to really just enjoy myself and the people and everything. I'm still amazed at just how much my aunt managed to do in her short 42 years here. She will certainly live on as an inspiration to not only me, but probably everyone who ever met her.
My cousins Amanda and Jeff, along with their parents (my aunt and uncle, obviously :P ) flew in from Nelson, B.C. for the celebration on Monday. My parents and I got together with them as well as my grandparents for dinner on Wednesday night. My cousins and I got a table to ourselves, and it was nice catching up with them. They're the cousins that I'm closest too (socially and in age, as they're 20 and 17), so it's a shame that they live on the other side of the country :/ It was a very fun night though, and I got to share some of my favourite university stories (sneaking to A7X concert anyone? :P ) and got some very interesting ones in return. Man, living in small towns must be something. For example, Waterloo Campus? 4 Tim Hortons locations. Nelson, B.C.? NONE. AT ALL. Well, if I ever need to get some rehab for my Iced Cappuccino addiction, I know where to go.
There was also some stress over getting cheques to Tyler in Waterloo to sort out the housing situation, but that got sorted out.
This morning I had a dentist appointment, and all was well. It was at noon, meaning I was up at 9:45, which is horribly early on a Saturday when I was desperate to sleep in, but eh, it wasn't too bad. And afterwards I stopped in at HMV, and perhaps somewhat delerious from the lingering aftertaste of flouride, snapped up two new CDs ;) Okay, maybe it wasn't the flouride, maybe it was just my plain old usual self...
Although as far as musical choices go, this was probably my most extreme pairing of CDs ever, haha. On the one hand, we have Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone and their new album, "The Cult Is Alive". And on the other hand, the band whose name says it all... Cannibal Corpse.
Okay, I wrote all that at around 11 pm, and then right at that point I somehow completely forgot about this and moved on to other stuff. So now I find this window open at 2AM and I can't be bothered to write any more tonight. It ended on such an ominous note as it was anyway, haha. I'll talk about the albums tomorrow ;)
Night all.
