Random musings as I search the sea of metal sites.

I feel like going through all my metal links right now, and I'm going to right down all the stuff that pops into my head as I do so. I may put this behind a cut, we'll see how long it gets, hahahah.

Century Media Records:
There's a splash page for the new God Forbid album, IV: Constitution Of Treason. The album cover with the broken arm of the Statue of Liberty is great, but I've heard some nasty rumblings about the music. I really want to check out their last album, Gone Forever though, ever since I heard the song Antihero, which is from that album. Nevermore is on the Opeth tour? Sweet lord, I really, REALLY want to see that. It's October 28 in Toronto... that's a Friday! Oh man! Total score! I may just have to plan to go home that weekend... The new Opeth album is "very good" in my opinion, and the Nevermore one is just amazing.  I'd really love to get some more stuff out of both bands' back catalogs.  Looking over their upcoming releases, I absolutely cannot wait for the new Cryptopsy - Once Was Not. The reviews have been mixed, but I really don't care - those Canadians make crazy good metal, and Flo Mounier is quite possibly the best in the biz behind the drumkit.  There's a new Old Man's Child album coming, and the preview MP3 is pretty promising, but I haven't really heard much from this band and don't know what to think.

Looking down the list of recently released stuff, as I said, the new Nevermore is incredible. I want to check out the new Arch Enemy despite the fact that it's bombing with all the critics, but I recently read a rave of the also-recently-released Naglfar - Pariah that got me really excited about it.  And that Napalm Death has been out for months, but I've somehow never bought it. WTF? Oh well, I'll get around to it eventually.

There isn't too much new over at The End Records it seems, but I would recommend Thine Eyes Bleed's recent debut In The Wake Of Separation as a fine example of modern thrash/death/somewhat-core-infused metal.  And I mean, the bassist is the brother of one Tom Araya from Slayer, so... Well, so nothing. They're a good band, check em out.

Listenable Records, that sexy European powerhouse, often has stuff I want, but can't get. The distribution is pretty bad here unless a domestic label decides to release it for them. Reading the news page, I see that the new Gojira (as in, "It's gojira!!". You know, Godzilla...) album, titled From Mars To Sirius, is just around the corner. Which reminds me to check out the rerelease of their last album, The Link. I haven't actually heard any of their music, but they come very, very highly reccommended.  A new Anorexia Nervosa short, The September EP, should also be coming soon. There's another band I've really wanted to check out, but haven't. It makes me laugh that this 46 minute album is an "EP", when there are stacks of full lengths that don't even come close to that length. I'm listening to Leng Tch'e right now, as a matter of fact... 24 songs in 33 minutes. Amazing.   There's a live video available of The Amenta from Australia performing, and if it wasn't for the bandwidth restrictions here I would be all over it. The Amenta's debut last year, Occasus, is supposed to be godly, and the sample song I heard reinforced the fact. I desparately want that disc.

I would talk about Napalm Records, but the site sucks and I'm not terribly interested in their bands, hahahahahaha. Snubbed.

I'm getting totally bored. This was stupid, but I've written too much to just not post. I'll try and write something coherent and relevant later. I just kind of felt bad for not having posted in so long. University is the GREATEST as far as I'm concerned, and I'll talk more about that later too.

Peace.
