My fursona is a rabbit and he's *technically* a cross between a snowshoe hare and a rabbit, though I was unaware of this while developing him.

However, I'm going for quality over quantity, so I've no plans to add people (or keep people on my LJ friends' list) who have nothing on their own LJs.
Replies are screened to for those who don't want to Stop Trolling For Unicorns; even though my LJ is friends only I get a few strange replies now and again which seem to be inappropriately inciting (through screening them, they get ignored).
I have LJ mostly as a way to keep in touch with friends I've made in the fandom, to write stuff to think about, blog, and occasionally vent about stuff.
