I've been watching Merlin for a while now (around 11 episodes I think), but I haven't really felt like drawing them until now, I don't really know why though, but it's probably because I have been so into Pineapple Express...
Anyway, this is the way to the final, feel free to ignore my boring explanation
I start out with a pencil sketch (or an idea perhaps), and this is it. And yes I do use at least a ton of different pictures for reference, it was almost impossible to find any for Arthur though, which I find a bit strange.
In the end they looked nothing like the actors, sigh, but I decided that I didn't care, partly because I sort of wanted to be done with it and partly because I kind of liked them even thogh they didn't end up like I wanted them in the beginning.
Secondly I trace the pencil drawins onto water colour paper, for which I need daylight and a window to hold it up against,
I don't really get how they ended up looking so different than the original pencil sketch, but I love the way they look sort of Disney like and the way they ended up looking like they looked at each other, which I hadn't planned.
Finally I colour them with watercolours, which is fun but scary
Anyway now when I've gotten started it's safe to say that there is more to come...
