I Hope He Had the Time of His Life In His Life

UGH. Celebrities keep DYING. And they'll keep ON dying but...it feels like before 2008 it was mostly people I didn't know, like people from really old movies from the '50s and '60s. But now it's like...Heath Ledger and Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson and Patrick Swayze (who I just found out was the same age as my dad and it made me even sadder somehow). I remember my cousin forcing me to watch Dirty Dancing all the time when we were little (UM?) and my other cousin showing me The Outsiders and my other other cousin showing me Ghost, so he's like...a childhood symbol or something (and maybe this doesn't really go here but I have to say it again: Jennifer Grey looks like a completely different person now).

Socks! Well, I completed my 3rd pair on Sunday, right on schedule! YAY! I'm starting on the foot of the first sock of the 4th pair right now (so I'm about halfway done? Maybe a little more?) and I'm kind of hoping to have it done before the end of today but I have ~school things~ to do so it might not be until tomorrow morning or something. Either way, if things go as scheduled, the pair should be done by Sunday. I was supposed to get started on Dad's Christmas socks after that but I decided to stick in 2 more pairs after I realized I have 2 aunts' birthdays coming up in October. The problem is that now I have to stealthily find out their shoe sizes. And then it hit me that I've been using this sock calculator that goes by shoe sizes the whole time but I'm not even sure it's 100% accurate (though I think it's probably pretty dang accurate, judging by the size of the completed sock). It would sock if none of the pairs I've made fit. UGH.

Anyway, I reaaally like the yarn for the socks I'm making now. It's SUPER colorful and has red (this is the predominant color or whatever), purple (second predominant color but it doesn't look weird or anything...), purple-with-white (it's like dots or something), yellow (least predominant color, which is sad because it makes it look pretty), dark blue, and turquoise. I don't know, it just gives me this really holidaysish feeling. It IS pretty loaded with colors, though, and my cousin said her little sister's favorite color is actually green (but all the green yarn at the store was all the shades of puke or lime green I hate and I refused to use that because I have to stare at this yarn for a pretty dang long while. I reserve the right to refuse to work with certain colors and I'm totally picky about my shades of green I like), so I'm a little concerned she'll think it's tacky or won't like it or something. If she doesn't like it, I will TOTALLY keep them because we're the same shoe size, so these socks are perfect for me too. She'd just have to wait a while longer for her socks then.

Dad's been catching up with the 3rd season of Heroes on DVD instead of renting 24 the past couple of weeks. I missed a bunch of episodes he watched and my PS2's DVD playing ability AND my cheap little DVD player are both super finnicky as all get out with Blockbuster DVDs, so I kind of gave up trying to catch up. I love Heroes but after season 1 I just couldn't get back up to the same level somehow...yet I won't REALLY give up on it. It's just in my backburner for a while. And I totally miss 24. The only problem I have with that show is that they kill people off so often that I'm constantly holding my heart worrying that they're about to off one of my babies. I have to have my Kleenex box right by me at all times just in case. It's already happened more times than I care to count. T_T I'm just happy that season 3 took care of my most hated characters.

Today's trivia fact: Lime green is my least favorite color.

heroes, tv, actors, knitting, famous people, family, 24
