All I Wanna Do Is *gunshot sounds x 4?*
And a *cash register sound* and take your money~! Except NOT. No, for real! I like the music in M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" but the lyrics do make me go "ummm" a bit. And the thing is, the chorus is STUCK IN MY HEAD. It's a little disconcerting to go around the house and have the impulse to sing that at someone. I need to listen to "Jai Ho" more and more and get THAT stuck in there instead.
That's RIGHT, friends! I FINALLY watched Slumdog Millionaire! And it was GREAT! I loved it! It's true! Please allow me to gush at this time.
First, let's get the obvious out of the way! Yes, my crush on Dev Patel has increased. I thought he did an awesome job. And those KIDS. DANG. And they were so cute! Jamal was my favorite character and Salim...I was turmoiled. I kept going from "HOW COULD YOU UGH" to "Okay, I forgive you a little" to "I HATE YOU UGH" to "Okay, at least you helped him there" and so on. But...I spent most of the movie pretty mad at him. And Latika was pretty cool! I was annoyed with her whenever she was like "Go away, Jamal!" but then I do think she was probably convinced he'd be killed by that mobster dude if he kept on after her so...I can't blame her, really. I was totally pro Jamal x Latika and Jamal's quest. For a moment there, though, I was worried he wouldn't win and that would have ruined my fairy tale ending because I wanted him to get rich and marry her and have a happy life forever and ever.
And the CREDITS. I LIKED THEM. Like, the way they were edited, the SONG AND DANCE (I LOVED THEM SO MUCH) and so on! Oh, and one thing I REALLY liked was how they did the actors' names. Like, how they credited all the actors who played the 3 main characters together. They didn't go all "Dev Patel, Freida Pinto, all the adults, and then the kids go at the veeery end." I hate that. I'm sure they have their "reasons" and whatnot for the order in which actors are credited in movies but it always annoys me to no end when the lead characters are children and they credit the token famous actor person first. Like...in Madeline. Didn't they credit Frances McDormand first? And I think the girl who played Madeline was at the very end like "and a child as Madeline." Maybe I'm making a fuss about nothing but I always get excited when actors are credited in the order of their character's mainness/importance/whatever. Like...I bet the Narnia kids were only credited in this fashion because of alphabetical order or something but I was always extremely happy that the order was Lucy, Edmund, Peter, and Susan because I thought that was also kind of the order of the characters' mainness. Anyway, those kids were a HUGE part of the movie, so I would have been cranky if they credited the cop interrogator guy or the mobster guy first just cause he's an adult and maybe a more famous actor.
"Jai Ho" (along with another song in the movie called "Aaj Ki Raat") now happily resides in my iPod and I keep listening to it over and over.
In short...I RECOMMEND IT TO EVERYONE. Actually, I can see it going both ways in terms of people liking it. But...I thought it was awesome and I want it when it comes out on DVD. And I still need to see Watchmen and Coraline. Though Dad said I wouldn't like Watchmen but...I think maybe he's secretly trying to dissuade me from watching it so I won't see certain things in it. Which is cute and funny of him. Awww!
ALSO! I obsessively watched all the episodes of Gakkou e Ikou's Jousou Paradise that I mentioned before and I found this episode where Kazunari Ninomiya from Arashi guest stars and it is adorable to see him go "UGH, THIS IS SO AGGRAVATING" (because he thought the guys were so pretty but they're still guys). I think I love him. Apparently, he loves playing DS. My favorite Arashi member has always been Jun Matsumoto but...that's partly because he's the ONLY Arashi member I really know. I've only seen his dramas and I looove most of them (well, I've seen him in Hana Yori Dango and Gokusen and a little bit of Kimi wa Petto, really), so... Man, the only Arashi songs I even know are the Hana Yori Dango songs. Anyway, I liked Nino a BUNCH here and now I want to see Yamada Tarou Monogatari and anything else he's in.
About videos...is it preferable to embed them? Right on the post or under a cut? Or is just linking to them better? I always link because I worry that an embedded video right there will be troublesome for some people and I figure putting it under a cut is pretty much the same as linking them, but maybe I'm not thinking of all the factors involved. Anyway, I'll...embed it under this cut too. ^_^;
