Well, hey, guys! Allow me to take a break from (not) working on my homework to talk to you about my special zombie book, Generation Dead by Daniel Waters! =D I shall begin by writing the summary thing on the jacket cover. So here it is. The thing on the jacket cover.
"Phoebe is just your typical goth girl with a crush. He's strong and silent...and dead.
All over the country, a strange phenomenon is ocurring. Some teenagers who die arent staying dead. They are coming back to life, but they are no longer the same. Termed 'living impaired' or 'differently biotic,' they are doing their best to blend into society again.
But the kids at Oakvale High don't want to take classes or eat in the cafeteria next to someone who isn't breathing. And there are no laws to protect the differently biotic from the people who want them to disappear--for good.
With her pale skin and goth wardrobe, Phoebe Kendall has never run with the popular crowd. But no one can believe it when she falls for Tommy Williams, the leader of the dd kids: not her best friend Margi, and especially not her neighbor Adam, the star of the football team. Adam has realized that his feelings for Phoebe run much deeper than just friendship. He would do anything for her--but what if protecting Tommy is the one thing that would make her happy?"
Awww! Isn't that neat? It's a zombie love story! No, for real. The author said so himself. In fact, the author cutes me out too. Some cute/cool things he said on
this one blog include:
"Well, really I wrote a love story. That’s what it says on the dedication page, anyway. For Kim, a love story. The back copy of the book promises love and romance and those topics are what, presumably, the ad in Girls’ Life will highlight. And if you ask me, I will tell you I wrote a love story. It just happens to be a love story with zombies. Teenaged zombies."
"I think the zombies were my brains’ (my braaaaaiiiiiins’!) way of coping with what, to me, was a truly horrific subject. Cthulhu scares me, Dracula is creepy, and I fear the Rough Beast slouching towards Bethlehem, but the idea (no, not the idea, the reality) of a kid injuring another kid for no other reason that the entertainment value they assume to be inherent in the act absolutely horrifies me. The zombies allowed me to inject humor into subject matter that, if I dwelled on it for too long, would put me in the deepest blue funk imaginable. The zombies helped me cope. And zombies are, of course, wicked cool."
I am his fan now. And so, let me gush some more!
Okay! So! Of course, Tommy Williams is the zombieboy I've been gushing about in previous posts. He has
a neat blog and he's all smart and nice (and ugh, I hate doing this. >.< Whenever I want to describe a character, all my cool, descriptive words go out the window). He has some trouble speaking and speaks slower because of his zombieness but he's still really smart and strong and righteous and so on. And I want him to end up with Phoebe but I feel bad for Adam at the same time. But it doesn't matter because Tommy x Phoebe is totally my ship, if only because I want to see Tommy happy. I have no problems with Phoebe, though, and she seems cool. My favorite characters are definitely Tommy and Karen (another zombie), though. Karen is all peppy, for a zombie. Actually, I wouldn't mind Tommy x Karen either. Hmmm... Now I'm all CONFUSED~!
Speaking of which, I keep calling them zombies. Should I call them "differently biotic"? AHAHAHA! No, they are zombies to me. I can say it's an affectionate term. I mean, they call themselves zombies. And I thought it was really interesting how different the zombies are. Some (like Karen) are almost no different from humans and don't move as slowly and speak almost normally and whatnot. Then there's some who take 10 minutes to say a simple sentence, take forever to walk, and look much more unfortunate. Some zombies' parents were all "YAY YOU CAME BACK" when their kids came back to life, while other parents were like, "AUGH GET OFF MY LAWN" and left town (and their kid behind). So it's...sad! And cool.
And I like that the zombies have a sense of humor about them like when this one guy shook Tommy's hand and he was all, "Careful... We...break easily..." and the guy was like "AUGH!!" and Tommy was like, "It was...a joke..."
I like that zombieboy. T_T
Okay, back to work! Haha. "Back." ^_^; >.< DON'T JUDGE ME!
