This Is What It Sounds Like When Doves Cry~!

Well, I finished reading The Neverending Story again. One of the reasons I know that book is SPESHAL to me is that whenever I start reading it I can't seem to put it down. And everytime I finish it I get all emotional inside like, "Man... It's...over again."

And then I read it again. So it is...a neverending story. Ha ha ha! I'm so clever!

But no. I must read something else now. And of course, instead of wanting to read one of those books I haven't read yet, my reading heart is calling for me to read The Marvelous Land of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Because my reading heart is not very sensible, I guess. Maybe I'm just in the mood for these types of stories.

As for watching stuff, I watched the first three episodes of Romantic Princess last night. It was pretty good! Nothing "new," certainly, but I think with dramas and shows it's mostly about the execution of it rather than how original the story is. Few things feel "new" anymore, it seems. What I REALLY need to do, though, is finish Nodame Cantabile. I've been trying to finish this for a YEAR and I keep getting sidetracked somehow. What seems to happen is, I start, get up to around episode three, and then something happens and I stop. Then I start over again because I forgot what happened in those first three episodes and the same thing keeps happening over and over again.

I'd really like to know what it is about some of the stuff I like that grabs my attention. I could say, "Oh, well, that one's fantasy and that one has this type of character and I like that," but it's NOT always like that. There's shows that I "should" like because they have everything I usually like in them and I never get into them. At the same time, there's shows I would normally stay far away from and then I watch one episode and am hooked somehow. I never understand why, either.

Ok, ok, ok. Some of the dramas that I keep hearing about and that I should maybe have a look at...

1 Litre of Tears:
Also depressing, it seems.

Ame to Yume no Ato ni:
I actually don't know much about this one except that everyone that's mentioned it has liked it, so I want to try to see it sometime. I'll have to seek it out.

Bambino!:
This one has Jun Matsumoto in it, so I SHOULD have watched it. Then again, he was in Kimi wa Petto and I didn't finish that one either.

Bara no Nai Hanaya:
I've heard it's good...?

Battery:
It's true. The only reason I want to see it is because it's about a baseball battery and I'm all about Ookiku Furikabutte now and so I was like, "I HAVE TO SEE IT!" and so I put it on my list but never did watch it. I hope it's good.

Beauty or Beast:
I totally admit I only wanted to see this because it has Masaharu Fukuyama (aka my first Japanese guy crush ever) in it. I first saw him in Hitotsu Yane no Shita way back in like 1999 (my first drama ever~! And I had to watch it raw and had no clue what was going on. Thank God for internet summaries) and fell in love with him, so I wanted to watch everything and anything with him in it, but I've never gotten around to it.

Bull Fighting:
Hebe Tian and Mike He, right? I don't know...but it could be good...

Busu no Hitomi ni Koi Shiteru:
Dang. I started this one, like, back in 2006 and never finished it because I couldn't...download it fast enough or something? I can't even remember. I think I got up to, like, episode five.

Corner With Love:
This one has Barbie Xu in it, right? But is that enough~? I liked Mars and what I saw of Meteor Garden...

Damo:
I actually started Damo a while ago and I was really liking it. I can't even remember why I stopped watching it. I think I made it up to episode four or something. Maybe part of it is that I spoiled myself (as I usually do; I hate getting into something all wholeheartedly and then getting to the end of it and finding out all my favorite people die or something) and found out that two of the main characters die at the end. I'd still like to finish it one day but...it's not a priority right now. Plus, I seem to suck at watching period dramas.

Fated to Love You:
Still not sure about this one...

Flowers for My Life:
Another weird situation because I started it, watched two episodes, was really liking it, and then I just stopped and I don't remember why either.

Galileo:
It's that Masaharu Fukuyama again~! I watched the first two episodes of it.

Glass Mask:
It's based on that manga, right? Didn't that manga last, like, 20 years or something crazy like that? Curiosity made me put it on the list.

Honey and Clover:
It's a manga, an anime, a Japanese drama, and just now made into a Taiwanese drama with Joe Cheng in it. What's the big deal? I intend to find out...someday.

Hong Gil Dong:
I heard mixed things about this one, such as that it starts off good and then it gets kind of eh towards the end (which I hear tends to happen with some Korean dramas...?). Anyway, it's another period piece (sort of?), and so it never fully grabbed my attention save for the fact that everyone seemed to be talking about it.

Hotaru no Hikari:
I watched half of the first episode before someone dragged me away for some reason and then I forgot about it.

Itoshii Kimi e:
I heard it's one of the best, so I want to watch it someday.

It Started With a Kiss 2/They Kiss Again:
I'll be honest. I skipped a LOT of episodes in the middle of It Started With a Kiss. If I want to see this one, I wonder if I should go back and fill in those gaps...

Karei Naru Ichizoku:
Same here. Ok, I have a confession. It seems like most dramas with Takuya Kimura are AWWWEEESOME or something. I've never watched a single one. I really should. And so I will! Someday.

Kekkon Dekinai Otoko:
I love Hiroshi Abe and the premise sounds interesting.

Kisarazu Cats Eye:
Everyone and their mom keeps recommending it!

KO One:
Is Jiro Wang really enough to make me watch it...?

Kuitan:
This is the only drama Hoshi's ever seen, right? The fact that she finished it intrigues me, and it has to do with food, so I must see it someday.

Long Vacation:
I heard about this drama around the same time as I heard about Hitotsu Yane no Shita. If I only watch one Takuya Kimura drama, I think this one should be it.

Meteor Garden:
I don't know if the Japanese Hana Yori Dango ruined me or something, but I can never seem to finish this. I'm STILL on episode three. I'm pretty ashamed about it, since this is supposed to be one of THE big dramas and all.

My Girl:
Another one I started and never finished. I think maybe I hated the rival girl too much...? I seriously can't remember why I stopped.

Nodame Cantabile:
We all know my tragic tale over this drama.

One Pound Gospel:
This one sounded really cute and I watched half of the first episode.

Pride:
Everything I've heard about this one has been good. Why haven't I looked into it yet?

Remote:
I think the concept is interesting and I've never seen either of the Kinki Kids act, so...

Romantic Princess:
Well, I started it!

Seito Shokun!:
I only wanted to see this one for Kanata Hongou and Maki Horikita. I think I saw the first episode.

Summer x Summer:
Started watching it for Joe Cheng and cause I liked the music. I think I stopped at episode four...

Tantei Gakuen Q:
It looks cute! Plus it has the kid who voiced Boh in Spirited Away and Mirai Shida, who is just adorable!

The Queen's Classroom:
Started it a looong time ago. I think it's interesting and also a little...scary somehow? I felt bad for the kids. It has Mirai Shida in it, though. Was this her first drama ever...?

Trick 2 & 3:
I finished the first one and I liked it a lot. Why didn't I keep going...??

Why Why Love:
I watched the first three or four episodes....

Winter Sonata:
This one is reaaaaally famous so I wanted to watch it and see what the fuss was about, but it's also apparently depressing and so I keep putting it off.

Yamada Taro Monogatari:
This one sounds cute too.

See, this is what I mean. What makes me keep watching certain dramas and what stops me from watching others? Is it just...the times? My mood at the time? A bunch of different factors? So many QUESTIONS~!

actors, korean dramas, books, japanese dramas, taiwanese dramas
