Burritos, Tacos, & the WGA Strike

Nov 09, 2007 01:49

I'm in a cheerful mood since I turned in that paper! Maybe it's cause there are cinnamon-scented pine cones all over the house and it's all Christmasy. Or maybe it's DRUGS. And by drugs I mean...tonight was Burrito Night. Ok, I said "Burrito Night" but we don't actually HAVE a Burrito Night. Mom just...made burritos tonight. So it was A burrito night, but not THE Burrito Night.

Which, I want to ask a Mexican person why they named them "burritos" and "tacos." I mean, it's hardly a new thing for different Spanish-speaking regions to have a different meaning for the same word, but it will always be funny to me because where I come from a "taco" is a high-heeled shoe (pumps, are they called?), and a burrito is...well, a donkey. In fact, there is a lovely Christmas song about a little donkey, and it gets stuck in your head and...oh, I admit it, I love that song. >_< It doesn't just get stuck in my head. I get it stuck in there on purpose. WILLINGLY. I LOVE THAT DONKEY SONG! Especially the "tuqui tuqui tuqui tuqui" part. I'm sorry! I'M SORRY, GRANDMA!

Actually, I think grandma likes that song.

Where was I going with this...? Oh, yeah! Cheerful mood. I was in one. And it was cold today and that only made things better!

But there were some sad happenings amidst all this joy. The Writers Guild of America went on strike and now we might not have as much Heroes as we were supposed to, which severely bums me out. However, I do support the writers and their strike, so I will wait patiently as long as they come back to me eventually. Like, soon. HURRY UP~! >_< I need my fix! *snorts a cinnamon-scented pine cone*

Also, I can keep it inside no longer. The new one is ok, but...I really, really, really miss Peter Petrelli/Milo Ventimiglia's old hairstyle. I respect his choice to get a haircut and I know he was dying to get one but...IT'S TOO SHORT~! T_T Maybe we can reach a compromise somewhere in between? Come oooon, Milo~! I miss your emo bangs! A LOT.

Also also, I'm worried Heather will get kicked off on next week's episode of America's Next Top Model. If she does, I think I'll stop watching. Or maybe I'll keep watching for Lisa. But when/if Lisa and Heather are gone, I, too, will be gone, probably. And THEN what will I watch on Wednesdays!? Reruns of some OTHER show!? Probably.

Well! I'll be working on my presentation for next week until...next week.
