Jacon 2004

So this is a quick summary of what happened today!

Morning
The BIG mission was to watch the Live Action Sailor Moon show, which began at 10 AM. Of course, Christie and I were the ones that were most eager to watch it, so we made plans!

I was supposed to meet Christie at around 9:30 AM at the registration booth, but I was running late so I told her to go on ahead into the video room and I'd meet her in there instead. On the way to the building I saw a hotel shuttle dropping people off and couldn't help but wonder why anyone from out of state would travel just to go to this con (if indeed that was the only thing they came for). I mean, Jacon is...not a very big con, as far as I know. It...kind of...sucksalittle. But it's all we have~. I have issues with it. ANYWAY!

And sooo, I headed to the registration table and discovered that the organization still kind of sucks. Lemme try to draw a diagram:

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB

TTTT

R LLLLLL
R LLLLLL
R LLLLLL

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

T = Table with registration forms to fill out
R = Registration booth where you pay and turn in your form and stuff
L = Line for registration
B = Back entrance
E = Entrance

Um... Let's hope it works. Anyway! I went in through the entrance and went to stand in line. When it was finally my turn, the lady told me that first I had to fill out one of the registration forms on the table (T). Now, mind you, there was NO notice or sign or person saying you had to do this and you'd never even notice the registration table if they didn't tell you about it. So then I had to get out of line after waiting, fill out the stupid form, and then return and stand in line again. -.- Strike #1. UGH!

After that I headed straight to the video room and we watched the Live Action Sailor Moon.

IT WAS AAAAAWESOOOOOOME! REALLY REALLY REALLY GOOD! Maybe I'm just easily pleased or something, but I really loved it. I didn't care if it was cheesy or whatever. I thought the casting was EXCELLENT and the acting as well. I just loved it! Loved it aaaaallll! The only downside was the people sitting behind us (which felt like almost everyone, since we sat on the first row, but, really, it was only the people directly behind us). They kept TALKING LOUDLY throughout the whole thing, making uncool jokes about how the girls were lesbians every chance they got. -.- LOUDLY. Louder than the volume of the show. And they kept talking to their friend who was sitting WAY in the back. Like this:

Usagi: Lalalala! Rei, meet Makoto!
Rei: Hi. *stares at Makoto as she senses that she's a sailor*
Makoto: Something wrong?
StupidGirlinBack: *as Rei* Yeah, I wanna hump your leg.
StupidGuyNexttoHer: Oh, StupidGirlinBack! You're my favorite lesbian!
StupidGirlinBack: StupidGuyNexttoHer, don't make me rape you again!
StupidGuyNexttoHer: Please don't rape me again. Right, StupidGirlWAYYintheback?
StupidGirlWAAAYintheBack: Ohhhh yeah!

And...

Usagi: *thinking Motoki is Tuxedo Mask* But...I don't feel excited around him like I do with Tuxedo Mask... I have to make it exciting myself!
StupidGirlinBack: Noooo, honey, that never works! Just go with Rei and accept it!

And then there was GirlSittingattheEdge -.- EVERY SINGLE TIME they showed the Luna plushie thing on the TV she'd start saying "BUY ME! BUY ME!" in a mimicking voice. It may have been funny the first time, but she did it EVERY SINGLE TIME! EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!

Afternoon
After it was over we headed over to the dealer's room, which was...extremely disappointing. It was bigger than usual, but everything they had was stuff you could get anywhere else (like DVDs and translated manga). They had absolutely no Japanese manga at all. The only stuff they had that interested me were the CDs and none of the stores had the Final Fantasy VI CD I wanted -.-; So I just bought the Azumanga Daioh vocal soundtrack.

Then we went to eat at Subway. After that, we wandered around and sat in to see a show called...Tenjou Tenge? Something like that. Anyway, we couldn't see very well and it didn't look that great, so we left and wandered into the next room, which was playing Happy Lesson Advance. I was utterly unimpressed with it, so we headed to the ballroom to the Anime Music Video contest. The line was LONG! REALLY LONG! And we waited in it for almost an hour before they let us in. Then they did. And they showed the videos. And none of them were terribly impressive.

So...all in all, it was quite disappointing. It was fun being with my buddies and all, but, really, the only thing that was worth being there for was the Sailor Moon series. That was NEAT!

I'm probably going again tomorrow cause Barbara is going and so are Cassie and her sister...plus they're playing two more Sailor Moon episodes ^_^;; And I want to try to buy something else. But...yeaaaah. This con seems to be dwindling more and more. It makes me saaaad.

But I still had fun! Because the company was gooood! The only sad part was that it felt like something was missing~, since our group was not the usual, for we were lacking Barbara and Christine. ;_; But they really didn't miss anything.

And lemme tell you, navigating the dealer's room should be considered excersise.

cons, japanese dramas
