I have been so busy the past week, it's kind of crazy. I guess I'll start from last weekend and write to catch up to today.
Last Sunday evening I went to hang out with Dustin after I got off work. We had decided a while ago that we wanted to invent "fajita pizza" so I guess that he had spent most of the day preparing stuff for that. He made the pizza dough from scratch, cooked up all the peppers and onions (he doesn't even like onions but he cooked them because Eric and I like them on our fajitas) and the meat. He also made up a refried bean/salsa sauce mixture to use instead of tomato sauce. We threw the pizzas in the oven when I got there, watched the episode of Lost he had taped while they baked then had dinner. It was YUMMY! Oh! We also put a clear coat on the artwork we made last weekend because he's such a slacker and just left it sitting in the living room all week.
After dinner, we got out the laptop and somehow managed to waste time online and watch videos on YouTube for like 3 HOURS. HAHA. He then decided to break the rules of our dinner/movie exchange and made me watch Bad Boyz. I admit, I'm a horrible excuse for a Will Smith fan to have not seen that one. It's random, but pretty funny. Dustin didn't realize how much he quotes that movie. While we were just flipping through the DVR trying to find something somewhat interesting, we spotted Karate Kid Part 2 and ended up watching that (and talking about old movies from when we were kids) until almost 3AM.
I met David for lunch on Monday. We went to Carlos O'Kelly's on the east side. It was so good to see him. We had a 2 hour lunch and it was awesome. Everyone he'd hang out with was at work still but not me! So I got some rare one-on-one time. We talked about a lot of things, and interestingly enough he gave me some new perspectives on some things about Matt. I literally sat there looking around like "Why didn't I think of that?" and it's just crazy. He didn't say anything that would have changed anything, but he definitely gave me a side of the story that never crossed my mind. I guess that's what friends are for, to think of the simple yet profound things that our minds are too cluttered to realize. I love it when that happens!
It was so completely weird to not hang out with Dustin on Monday, that we decided we should test out the option we've had for a while of me coming over after he gets off work on Wednesday. Since he can stay up so late and still get enough sleep for work, and I'm off on Thursday's...there's no reason we can't figure out a Wednesday night. I got over there around 10:45ish. Dustin was asking me all about my lunch with David since I had been super excited that he's in town. We watched the episode of House from Monday (it was really good!) and talked about what we'd be doing on Friday. I think we'll be having more Wednesday night hangouts, because neither of us like having to wait until a Sunday or Monday to see eachother. :)
Friday was AWESOME! I actually got to leave work on time! That's right, 3:30PM on a friday I was out the door. I couldn't believe it. I went back up there at 5:45 to pick up Dustin (he took off half a day) and we went straight over to Riverfest. We got to the stadium to see the last couple innings of the first game. Wingnuts won! I was a little bit bummed/pissed because a lot of friends had told me they planned to meet us there and NOBODY showed up. Some people didn't even bother to cancel. It would have been fun to have a group but I guess it worked out okay because Dustin and I had fun by ourselves. We always do.
OH! We got to see the Bobby Bones Show crew...and heard Amy sing. She wasn't very "good," but she didn't mess up the lyrics and she didn't chicken out. I think all BBS fans were proud of her. Lunchbox ran up and gave her a huge hug which was SO CUTE! He looked genuinely proud of her which was a surprise because he's such an asshole on the radio. The first game ran so late that they had to hurry up and leave so they could introduce the concert down the street. We would have liked to meet them and get pictures, but oh well. They had a video camera and according to Bobby's blog they're making a little documentary about their weekend here in Wichita. I can't wait to see it and hear the stories of their trip on the show next week. :) ANYWAY. Dustin and I stayed for the whole game after a lot of people bailed. Wingnuts won the second game too and I got to see my very first live grand slam.
Aly is in town this weekend and apparently there is going to be a big mother's day shindig at my house tomorrow after I get off work. Yeah, stuff just seems to get planned and I find out about it later. Whatever. Hopefully Aly brought her scissors up, because I'm in major need of a haircut.
OK. I'm done rambling. Bye.
