so last year i didn't do this survey because it more or less depressed me, and i knew i would regret it...but so yeah...here is this years:

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
got my own insurance

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
i didn't really have any last year...this year is to eat healthier...and also to grow a beard

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
nope...but a lot of people did get pregnant, so next year probably

4. Did anyone close to you die?
thankfully, no

5. What countries did you visit?
just America

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
passion

7. What dates from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
i got to see A LOT of great shows but here are my top 5:
4/20/07 - got to see Zach Galifianakis and meet him
6/28/07 - got to see The Ataris in ATL and also meet Kris Roe
9/29/07 - Jenny Lewis and i made eye contact and fell in love with each other
11/12/07 - got to see David Bazan (for the 3rd time in 2007) in Nashville, and meet him afterwards and have a conversation with him

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
writing probably the best music i've ever been a part of

9. What was your biggest failure?
i really don't know...i don't really look at things as failures, just detours...everything works out for the best so it's not a failure, just a set-back

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
luckily i did not

11. What was the best thing you bought?
my telecaster

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
my friends, they're fantastic

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
ehh...whatever

14. Where did most of your money go?
gas, and concerts

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
all of the shows i went to: The Ataris, Ben Gibbard, David Bazan (3 times), The Decemberists, The Shins, Modest Mouse, MORRISSEY, Rilo Kiley, Ryan Adams, Bright Eyes, Tegan and Sara, Explosions in the Sky...and it seems like i'm missing someone...

16. What songs will always remind you of 2007?
"A Comet Appears" - The Shins
"Fewer Moving Parts" - David Bazan
"Dashboard" - Modest Mouse
"With Arms Outstretched" - Rilo Kiley
"California One/YBB" - The Decemberists

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? much happier...i did the survey, right?
b) Thinner or fatter? i don't know...i'm working on losing some weight, but i don't remember what i weighed last year
c) richer or poorer? definitely richer

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
i wish i could have played more shows...but 2008...new band...it will be fantastic...i wish i would have written more as well...

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
put so much trust and faith in people

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
i spent christmas with my family, as always...

22. Did you fall in love in 2007?
with Jenny Lewis and Jenna Fischer...but apart from that, no...if anything i doubted it exists.

23. How many one-night stands?
none

24. What was your favorite TV program?
The Office

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
no

26. What was the best book you read?
Blue Like Jazz (Donald Miller)

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
hmmm....i got really into tegan and sara...i was into them previously, but not near like i was this year....i didn't really get into anyone new that i can think of off hand.

28. What did you want and get?
the new ataris album?

29. What did you want and not get?
a record deal

30. What was your favorite film of this year?
1. No Country For Old Men
2. The Darjeeling Limited

5. Grindhouse

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
turned 21...went and had a beer with nathan, and then went to ian's place and played around with music stuff and watched figure it out

32.What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
every year has it's satisfying parts, and it's unsatisfying...i'd rather not dwell on what didn't happen, and just work harder to make it happen this next year (this is the same answer as last year, but it still holds true)

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
jeans and tee shirts/sweaters...the "i don't care, who am i trying to impress?" look

34. What kept you sane?
friends, music, and tuesday nights with kyle, lee, and adelle

35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Jenny Lewis and Jenna Fischer...i have huge crushes on both

36. What political issue stirred you the most?
i actually did have more political thoughts this year...i'm finally at the age where some of it interests me...but yeah...i got really excited at the thought of Stephen Colbert running for president

37. Who did you miss?
Adam Sharp, Lampwick, Hannah, Ashley, and other old friends i never see

38. Who was the best new person you met?
Tony, Ian, and Kelli

39. What do you look forward to in 2008?
playing shows again and touring....and The Dark Knight

40. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
"Don't smoke cigarettes. Cigars, however, are good for you. There is even a magazine celebrating their enjoyment, with male role models, athletes, actors, rich guys with trophy wives, on its covers. Why not the surgeon general? Cigars, of course, are made of trail mix, of crushed cashews and Granola and raisins, soaked in maple syrup and dried in the sun. Why not eat one tonight at bedtime? Firearms are also food for you. Ask Charlton Heston, who once played Moses. Gunpowder has zero fat and zero cholesterol. That goes for dumdums, too. Ask your senator or senatrix or congressperson if guns, like cigars, aren't good for you."
