Top 3 animes of the winter season 2011

There might be spoilers.

1. Hourou Musuko

This anime deserve the top spot, because of the theme it handles and how well it does it. Hourou Musuko is an anime about two transgendered children and how they deal with their feelings, discrimination, love and self image. I was surprised to see that the show managed to stay mature yet innocent. It handles it's theme very realistic, especially considering the character's age. Most of the characters are very likable, except Chiba, but I do think she added something important to the story, so it's easily forgotten.

2. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica

This show took me by completely surprise. I didn't follow it until the first 7 episodes were out. I wasn't going to watch it, because it looked like an ordinary Magical girl show.
Instead what I found, was a show filled with depth. Was Kyubee evil, that he deceived these girls, or was they a necessary loss for the universe?

3. Fractale

Very interesting concept. In a world after the end of time as we know it. I like the premise. What made me fall in love was Nessa. She is just too adorable without being annoying.
I love how individuality played a big part in the ending, but the ending did leave me kinda sad.
I'm not sure I loved the whole "we have to do things the old way" theme, but luckily the ending didn't disappoint me there.

Biggest disappointment of winter 2011 - Infinite Stratos

I only watch about 4-5 of the episodes. Typically harem, none likable characters, no plot, no action. I was expecting way too much.

top 3, infinite stratos, mahou shoujo madoka magica, hourou musuko, anime, fractale
