Today I just tested for green belt. This is where they start letting people hit you in the head, and vice versa. This is where they start letting people hit you below the belt, and vice versa. This is where they start allowing standing grappling and takedowns.
And I specially asked sensei that this one push me (since my previous test didn't).
Apparently the high belts were betting on whether I'd vomit at some point. I didn't, but I did get so dehydrated that my breath came in audible wheezes. And I got some nasty bruises on my leg - it seems that although I've got beefy enough quads that I can ignore any single shot to the leg, they still don't help if I get hit twice in the exact same spot. I wonder whether I'll be walking tomorrow. I also took a rather nasty knock to the head during a takedown, but so far I haven't felt any side effects...
Oh, and I actually broke a board with my hands! I really didn't think I'd be able to do it. I've become comfortable with the idea that I can drop a side kick through just about anything, but I've never gotten the hang of hand techniques. Something to do with the shoulders, I expect. But today, it worked, and I snapped that sucker in two on the first try.
Anyway, I'm thinking that a nice, long bath would do wonders for me right about now.
