SPN Weekly Review - Episode 8.14

Feb 13, 2013 22:52

I’m not sure why that episode was so lacklustre for me. It wasn’t even a bad episode, I just wasn’t fangirl-squeeing over it. It actually had everything I wanted it was classic SPN with great, great special effects. Like seriously, we haven’t had that quality since season one and two. They either hired someone new or the got a bigger budget.

It was a solid story as well. I just… I don’t know. I guess the entire Ellie thing made me uncomfortable. I was probably too nervous watching it thinking Dean was turning into his pre-Hell self when that would have been ridiculous for his character as he is now.

Also, the speeches? Domestic!Dean? Dean and Sam in glass? The Seven shippiness (do we have a proper ship name for them yet? Seriously, I’m beginning to ship Sam and Kevin and normally I give Sammy the girls). I’m not about to go out and read wild-dirty-fanfic yet but if they have more moments like they did tonight then I just might. Anyway, my point is I loved all those things, I seriously really did. Also, the episode kept me (and from the looks of things - others) guessing and SPN had been pretty predictable episode to episode in season six and seven. I mean the end of six threw me for an utter loop because it came out of nowhere (seriously, Cas just suddenly being on the wrong side? I am never going to get over how sloppily that was done - whoa, catty tonight), again I digress…

On top of that it furthered the overarching storyline which was fantastic. These last few episodes have been really well done in that respect.

It was a good episode and Dean said ‘no’ thank Chuck. So that was great, side characters seemed fairly well thought out. Maybe I just have to watch it again, knowing now that I don’t have to sweat the new girl.

Anyway. Good episode. Perhaps I’ll be squeeing about it after my rewatch…
