Jared is always brilliant really and I'm sure in another role I would be able to appreciate Lianne Balaban's acting. I think I'm just so used to Jared and Gen's chemistry that I find it a little strained (not that it's fair to compare to the woman he married... lol). I'm not going to put her on my blacklist yet but I just find the scenes between them a little stiff. I do agree they are getting better though as Lianne gets more comfortable on the set. if we do see her more I look forward to seeing if she continues to improve.
I know! Poor Alfie! I thought that would be the time Castiel would break the hold and then him and Alfie would disappear to raid Heaven. I really liked Alfie.
I'm going to have to kindly disagree without over Sam choosing Dean instead of Amelia. My theory is that Sam still feels guilty about not looking for Dean and Kevin and for taking a step back from hunting. He doesn't need to feel guilty, but he's a Winchester so it's in his DNA.
Also, I think a large part of Sam's decision came from the fact that Amelia betrayed her war hero husband so easily (so it seemed). It was one thing when Sam thought Don was dead but he knows he's alive and Sam knows that Amelia renewed her commitment to her husband.
I'm not sure if I'm over analysing but I think to Sam marriage is something pretty sacred. He had the perfect relationship stories about their parents from Dean growing up (even if we now know John and Mary were far from perfect)and I think that would affect him quite a bit even if he doesn't realise it. Sam also has a lot of respect for soldiers because of what he and Dean do which could also influence Sam's relative ease of choosing Dean over Amelia. That's why I think Sam was quick to decide to stay with his brother. If Amelia was available and single it would be an entire different situation. I do completely agree the couch scene was depressing, they are both conflicted about the relationships they severed and also concerned about Castiel. I think they were both terrified and trying very hard to act normal.
Once again, we're on opposite sides of the fence here over Benny. I feel that wasn't handled too well. Not from a theory stand-point, I get it. Dean has to break his friendship with Benny and it would be difficult for them both if they did it face-to-face but I think (given how distraught Benny sounded) that Dean should have checked in on him and then cut the ties once he knew Benny was settled somewhere.
I'm sure though that the break with Benny is a plot-point. Benny's going to end up wreaking havoc and then Sam is going to tell Dean that he told him so and that they should have killed him when they had the chance but it's going to be revealed (likely through Benny) that had Dean stood by him he would have had a support system and that he never would have resorted to killing humans again. That's my theory. So plot point I understand the break, story wise as well and also from an emotional stand point I get it. I just wish Dean would have done that one last thing for Benny.
